Wedding Still Holds

"You never told me he is that hot" Jumoke said smiling as Sophia saw her off to her car.

"Who?" Sophia asked absent mindedly, she can't seem to get her mind off how good looking Tunde is, this evening.

"Your fiance of course, who else would I be talking about?" Jumoke looked at her like she was losing it.

"Tunde? Spff....., You think he is hot? oh please" She waved Jumoke's comment off.

"Of course he is hot, I'm sure you think him so too, because I saw the way you were looking at him, now I know the reason you want to marry him, even if you barely know him, it's because of his hot body"

"How do you mean? Of course I wasn't looking at him in any way, infact I wasn't even looking at him at all" 'Liar', a voice in her head said to her. Of course she was looking at him, not only that, but she was seizing him up, taking in every single detail about him, that is why she noticed his beard was just recently trimmed, how she would love to get her fingers on that beard and play with it.

"If that's what will get you through the day, then please hold on to it" Jumoke had a knowing smile on her face. "But the guy is hot sha"

"Have you forgotten you are married?"

"And who said married women can't admire other guys? I never said I want to sleep with him, did I?"

"Jumoke please I think you should be on your way, your husband should be expecting you home by now, abeg come dey go"

"Whatever, I need to go prepare dinner any way, so bye"

She hugged Sophia.

"take care of yourself okay?"

"I will"

Jumoke got into her car, and drove out of the compound.

When she got back inside, Tunde was standing staring at the family portrait in the sitting room. Same one Sophia had met him staring at, the first time he had been to their place.

"You seem to enjoy looking at that picture so much" Sophia said to him, observing his features from behind.

"Funny enough, you are the only one I stare at in the picture" he turned to look at her, flashing her, his fine set of teeth in a smile.

He had his sleeves rolled up, and some of the top buttons of his shirt, were undone, making him look incredibly sexy.

"Why is that?" Sophia asked, as she quickly looked away from him, before she does something foolish.

"There is something about the Sophia in this picture, she looks carefree and __"

"And young" Sophia completed the sentence for him.

"I was going to say happy" Tunde said.

"Oh okay" she nodded.

"What happened to the happy Sophia?"

"Excuse me? I don't quite follow"

"The Sophia in this picture is totally different from the one standing before me now and__"

"I'm sure you came here so that we can talk about the upcoming wedding"

"No, I'm actually here to see your mom, and stay by you in case you need anything"

"Really?" She asked in surprise

"Yeah, why do you seem surprised?"

"Why would you come over here just to stay by me?"

"Well isn't it obvious?" He took a seat and crossed his legs.

"Isn't what obvious?" Sophia asked as she held her breath hoping he would say he is here because he likes her.

"Well... I'm here because that's what is expected of a good son in-law to be"

"Oh yeah, sure" Sophia's countenance fell.

Tunde knew he was lying, he is here because he couldn't stand not seeing her today, for some reason, which he can't seem to explain, he now looks forward to seeing her daily, and any day he doesn't see her, he always feel like his day is incomplete.

"Uhmm, can I see your mom?" He asked after they have both been uncomfortably silent.

"Yes sure, come with me please" Sophia led the way to her bedroom where her mother was still lying down.

"Kindly hold on, let me check if she is in a condition to see you" she said to Tunde when they got to the door of the bedroom.

"All right"

Sophia went into the room, to find the mother talking to her sister.

"Sophie dear" her mother called out in a small voice.

"Mummy how are you? Are you okay?" She went to her mother's side.

"I'm okay, you don't have to worry about me" she squeezed Sophia's hand.

"Tunde is here to see you" she told her mother.

"Where is he?" She asked with a faint smile on her face.

"He is outside, let me bring him in" Sophia went to open the door for Tunde to come in.

"Good evening ma" Tunde greeted Sophia's mother.

"Tunde my son, how are you doing?"

"I'm fine ma, how are you feeling ma?"

"I'm doing okay, strong enough to attend your wedding"

"Mummy don't you think we should post__"

"Don't even think about it, the wedding is not going to be postponed" their mother, said vehemently.

"But mummy you need to rest, and regain yourself, so postponing it might be a good thing" Ifeoma contributed.

"I'm not the one getting married, so there is no need for me to regain my strength, besides it is going to be a small wedding, so there is going to be little or no stress involved"

"But ma, I think the wedding can be postponed, there's no rush actually"

"The wedding still goes on, and that's final"
