The Scout

"It's rare to see you so close to a female Reiner." The scout said.

"It's only natural, I've chosen her as my female." He said so nonchalantly.

"What?!" Both Zara and the scout yelled at the same time.

"You're joking right? The almighty Reiner who never had any interest in females finally decided to join a clan?" The scout asked.

"Normally I don't, but this female seems to have peaked my interest." Reiner said with such an uninterested face.

The scout scanner Zara up and down noticing her beauty, as well as the fact that she had no contract marks yet.

"Oh? Rather interesting indeed." The scout told himself.

"Back off Emmett, this is my prey." Reiner said with a cold expression.

Emmett immediately step back father away from Zara.

"Emmett?"

"Oh my apologies female, I'm Emmett, one of the scouts meant to patrol the area around here from intruders or predators."

"What fine job you seem to be doing." Reiner said so sarcastically.

"We don't know how he got through! We had scouts every mile of the perimeter, but somehow he still managed to come through..." Emmett explained.

While Emmett was speaking with Reiner, Zara was able to take a good look at the handsome man. Tall, rough, with a more muscular physique than Reiner or Ayan. Zara also noticed all the scars on his body when she looked over him.

"Are all the males of this world so physically appealing?" She thought to herself.

While she was thinking to herself, someone quickly came up from behind her and held her so tightly she thought they were going to break her.

Zara grunting "Errr, hey you're hurting me!"

"Zara! I'm so sorry, I failed as a male to protect my female! I shouldn't have let you come out here by yourself." Ayan said with such a sad tone in his voice.

"Ayan! I'm okay, really, see? Look no bruises or scratches! I'm not hurt, but I will be if you keep holding me so tightly!" Zara squealed.

"From now on you don't go any where without me! If I let harm befall my female I would lose all my pride as your male." Said Ayan.

From a few feet away Reiner stood there staring at the both of them embracing, for a second he almost yearned for something like that with Zara as well.

"Hey mutt, next time do a better job of protecting your female, if not then what good are you?" Reiner snarked at Ayan.

Ayan already growling with murderous intent decided it was better to not pay any attention to the eagle Beastman, annoying as he was, even Ayan respected the fact Reiner had just saved Zara.

Emmett who had been in the background for this whole exchange started to feel uneasy about the situation.

"Well I see you all are busy discussing things, so I better get back to patrolling the area! Bye Zara!" Emmett waved.

"Do a better job this time." Reiner said so harshly.

"Tsk!" Reiner sucked his teeth at the comment.

"Zara! Let go home, you've been out here to long with this Beastman, we better go before you starting getting bird brains." Ayan said with petty intent.

"Uhh Ayan...." but Zara agreed, she had such an eventful evening that she was exhausted from it all.

"Ahh? Is that anyway to speak to your older brother?" Reiner remarked at Ayan.

"Phhhhhff!" Ayan almost choked on his own saliva.

"You? Brother? Zara would never!" Ayan exclaimed.

"Huh? Brother?" Zara asked.

"It's what male members of a clan call each other out of respect, so for now on you can call me older brother." Reiner said with a smirk on his face.

"As if Zara would ever chose a male like you! She hates you! And even if she did make a contract with you, it is you who should call me older brother!"

"Why are they even fighting? It's not like I've even made a contract with either of them..." Zara asked herself.

"She has already agreed to return the favor of me saving her by offering a contract at the time of my choosing." Reiner told Ayan.

"Tsk, she would never want someone with shit for brains and personality." Ayan said angrily.

"Mutt."

Suddenly Ayan put his arms underneath Zara lifting her up, "We're leaving."
