The Kiss

Ayan stayed quiet the whole time during their walk back home and through the town. Zara could feel the tension between them but didn't know how to go about the situation.

"Ehh, Ayan?" No answer.

"Sigh, I guess it's no use right now is it? He must be mad at me about the whole Reiner situation." Zara thought.

Once they got home Ayan hoisted Zara down from his arms and sat down on the hard stone floor of the home, preparing the stew that had been left in the pot for Zara.

"I guess we'll have to make do without the potatoes..ha ha ha.." Zara laughed so dryly.

She was beginning to worry about Ayan giving her the cold shoulder, he had never acted this way towards Zara that it was a bit unsettling in her heart.

Zara nervously decided to bring it up, "Ayan? If this is about what Reiner said...he agreed to that all on his own, how could I even think about making a contract with him at that point in time and-"

Ayan cut her off, "It's not about Reiner." He said in such a serious tone.

"Not only did I let you go out into the face of danger, but I also allowed another unfamiliar male to do my job when I couldn't."

"I see, so he's feeling guilty....." Zara thought.

"Ayan, it's not something that we could have seen coming, and besides, I'm safe and sound, isn't that what important?" Zara asked.

"Here a male only has 2 jobs, one to provide for the female as well as their offspring and to protect them. Obviously I haven't done either. I haven't even made it to the first step of it all yet."

"Ah the contract..." Zara thought, " as much as I'm starting to grow fond of Ayan and his handsome face, I still can't bring myself to do that with him...isn't there any way I can do something for him that will put his heart at ease?"

Suddenly Zara had a thought, but she was so embarrassed by it that her ears had turned red, however she thought this was the only way to have Ayan go back to how he normally is.

"Ayan!"

Surprised that Zara had shouted for him, Ayan looked up and over to see Zara kneeling down next to him. She began to inch her face close to his.

"My female?"

"Ah what the hell, just go for it!" Zara thought to herself.

And with that she thrust her face onto Ayans placing her lips on his while gently holding the sides of his face.

They stayed like that for what seemed like eternity then slowly Zara backed away from Ayans lips leaving him dumbfounded.

Zara's face felt hot and flushed, she looked at Ayan to see he was still dazed with his cheeks looking a little blushed.

"Ayan?"

"....I never knew a females lips could be so soft..." Ayan said while looking down.

"Ahhhhhhh!!!!" Suddenly Ayan shouted at the top of his lungs.

Zara scared and confused only covered her ears.

"Heh. Thank you my female, it seems your soft rosy lips have invigorated me!" Ayan said so happily.

"I will protect you with every inch of my body, and I will be the first male to make a contract with you."

Zara laughed, she couldn't believe what she was hearing or what she had just done with Ayan but she was happy that Ayan returned to normal.

Touching her lips that were still tingling from the kiss, "My first kiss....."
