Trinity

I run over to try and get Trinity out but it's no use, a mouth appears in front of me. "I'm sorry your highness but it's for your own good."

"What? She's my friend let her go."

"Forgive, but I can't. She could be dangerous, I've tried to go through her memories but wasn't successful, she's not a god but she knew you had to go in the volcano."

She's right, but-

"Don't tell me you did it. Don't tell me you went in!"

"I did." I turn to face my brothers, their weapons ready to attack.

"Damnit! Luka, we need to retreat, we didn't bring enough men with us." They look for their men and see that they've all been knocked out, they look at me with frustration and hate in their eyes. One of them sets off a flame and right after someone appears between them, they look at me with cold eyes before disappearing with my brothers.

I turn my attention back to the rock wall, the mouth still there. "Release her." After a moment of silence, the wall dissipates and Trinity is sitting on the ground. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Listen, I need to know. How did you know about the volcano?"

"We have to go to Rin and the others." She gets up and starts walking away, but I grab her arm. "I can't say anything. I'm sorry."

"What do you mean you can't say anything? What do you know, tell me."

"Unless you want me to die, I can't say anything!"

She pulls her arm away and keeps walking. "There's only one person who would do something as cruel as that." The spirit speaks up and Trinity stops walking. "If you do any harm to her I will burn you alive."

"What's going on? Why won't anyone tell me anything?"

"We can't tell you, you'll find out everything eventually when you're ready."

"I'm ready now, so just tell me everything."

Trinity turns to look at me with tears in her eyes. "We can't! You could destroy everything and everyone. That's why you just regained your memory, that's why you only got your memories."

The spirit and I are quiet as Trinity leaves. The spirit appears in front of me. "She knows something, but she can't say it. I wouldn't ask her any more questions, if what she said is true then it'd be best to wait until you're ready to know more. I'm sorry, but this is all I can do for you, your highness" The spirit disappears.

I run after Trinity, the smoke has cleared up. I can see her down with the others, they're all passed out. I walk to Rin and can't help but feel guilty. "It's not your fault." Trinity comes over to us and puts a damp rag on his forehead.

I look at her and she smiles. "If it wasn't for me they wouldn't be like this."

"I know I'm sorry. You'll do a lot of good though, this was only the first step to stopping your brothers. We all knew there would be fighting, there's almost always fighting whenever we go out on missions."

"What were you and Rin talking about at the stables, before we left?"

Rin moves and his eyes open just enough for him to recognize us. "Did we complete the mission?"

Trinity and I laugh as we both nod our heads. The others are starting to wake up and Trinity goes to help them and make sure they're okay. I watch Rin as he struggles to sit up. "Are you okay, Skye?

"You're the one that can barely sit up. Are you okay? I was worried about you."

He cups my cheek and after a moment, smiles. "I'm fine." Trinity comes over to check on us but Rin waves his hand and she leaves. "There's an event next week that I want you to attend with me."

"What?"

"The king hosts an event every month, for the knights. I want you to go with me."

"Well, if it's for the knights wouldn't I be going anyways?"

"Yeah, but I want to take you…with me….as a date."

I don't know what to say. We went years without seeing each other without talking and have only reconnected recently, but he wants to take me to an event. I look around and see that everyone is looking at us, Trinity is smiling and winks at me, I shake my head.

"Okay, it's a date." I smile at Rin and his face lights up.

Once everyone is up and moving around Rin tells everyone to get ready and go to the hideout.

We all arrive back at the hideout in one piece; everyone unsaddles and takes their belongings off the horses. Just as we all go inside an owl appears and drops off a letter for Rin. "Everyone go without me." Trinity grabs my arm and starts leading the way.

We arrive at her room and she closes the door. "So, you and Rin."

"What?"

"You two going on a date. I think it's cute."

I can feel my cheeks heat up and I turn away from her. "It's not that big of a deal."

"Skye, listen I'm sorry for yelling earlier. I wish I could tell you, but I'm not able to. I can promise you though that you will know the truth before long. I'll make sure you do."

I turn to look at her, her eyes filled with sadness. "Are you a demon?"

She looks away from me, she is. The spirit said gods and demons don't go well together, but she's being nice to me and helping me. "Why? Why are you being nice to me and helping me?"

"I-"

A bell rings and I can hear Rin calling for everyone to meet in the hall.

"A mission?"

"Probably." Trinity and I leave her room to meet with everyone else.

Everyone lines up as Rin stands in front of us. "As you all know we had to come back from the mission a couple of days early. Although I wish we stayed the whole week, we were under the effects of the smoke for about three days, we don't know what it did to our bodies so I had all of us return here immediately for checkups. I sent word to the king about what happened and he wants us all to arrive at his castle tomorrow at noon."

Did he say four days? It didn't feel like it, does that mean Trinity was fighting for four days by herself? Rin tells everyone to go to their rooms and get some rest before tomorrow.

A bell rings and I can hear someone yelling for everyone to wake up, I roll out of bed and do my normal morning routine. After I get out of the shower I notice there are marks all over my body, they don't hurt, unless I put a lot of pressure on them. I ignore them and finish getting ready, by the time I finish everyone is heading to the stables. I stand next to Marx and wait for Rin to give directions.

"Okay everyone, we're off to the capital, saddle up!" We all get our horses ready and mount up before Rin gives the signal for us to move out.
