Mission to save Rin

I move Trinity away from me and make my way to the gate, where Austin stops me. "I know why you're here and why you want to come in but you can't. People are sick."

"I don't care, move."

"I can't, no one is allowed to enter. Rins orders."

I sigh and shake my head. "Fine." I turn around and start walking to the group. I turn around quickly and try to dash through the gate; Trinity and Austin both grab me. "Let me go, I'm going to see him."

"Wouldn't you rather find a way to save him instead?" Trinity is struggling to hold onto me, but she's right. We could be finding a way to save him and countless others.

"Luna said she can make a cure." Keera walks up to me and grabs my hand. "We just need to find the source."

I calm down, Austin and Trinity let go of me. I fall to the ground and look up at the sky. "What's she talking about?"

"Luna can make a cure, but we need to find where the virus originated from. We need to bring the source to her."

The others talk among themselves; Trinity puts a hand on my shoulder. "You two have a date so we have to save him." She looks down at me and smiles as I roll my eyes. "I promise, he'll be okay, but if we're going to help him we need to leave now."

I nod and get up, we all line up as Trinity stands in front of us. A few of us are missing, they're probably sick. Keera stands next to me, holding my hand. "Are you okay?" I nod and squeeze her hand lightly.

"Who is that, Skye?" Trinity looks at Keera then at me.

"This is Keera; she lives at one of the villages I was inspecting. Her mom didn't make it, so she's been tagging along with me since. I didn't want her to come, but she insisted."

"What type of magic do you have?" Keera's quiet, she looks up at me and tugs my arm.

"She can heal."

"Okay, as long as she doesn't get hurt or get in the way she can stay." Trinity goes over the details, she explains what happened to Rin. Some fog appeared and he heard voices coming from somewhere so he went to investigate. He managed to find out where the people were hiding, but the fog surrounding the area was so thick he got sick, someone found him lying outside the village and took him home. "Okay, the hideout isn't far, but as I said the area is covered with fog, we need to stick together. I'll clear it, but if you stray too far you'll get infected. Everyone understand?"

We all nod our heads in unison. Trinity leads the way, and we all follow. Keera is still holding my hand. "Whatever happens I want you to stay close to me." She nods.

"Alright, we're getting close. Everyone stay together." We approach the fog and Trinity makes a path for us. The fog is thick; if it wasn't for her we probably wouldn't have seen where we're going. "Stop."

Keera and I walk to Trinity. "What's going on?"

"I think we almost reached it." She clears a few feet of the fog and there's a cave entrance. "Knew it." She winks at me before entering the cave, we all follow her. Someone walks next to Trinity and makes a fire out of their palm, they light the way for us.

We follow the path until we hear noises; we stop in our tracks listening. It sounds like people talking. Trinity rushes to the people, everyone is behind her. As if on cue we all pull our weapons out.

"Who are you?!"

Two people are standing there surprised. "You're under arrest for creating a virus killing hundreds of people."

One of the people scoff. "You're too late, Max deal with them."

Max and a few other people come out from the other side of the cave. "Yes, ma'am." He looks at me and smiles, while the two people run leaving the area.

"I got this Trinity; you take the others and go after them." She looks at me and I nod. She and the others follow the two. Max and two other people surround Keera and me, I pull out my other sword waiting for one of them to attack.

Max doesn't take his eyes off of me until he looks to his right and one of the guys shoots an arrow at me. The arrow takes me by surprise, but thanks to my quick reflexes I manage to dodge just in time. I turn around and see the other guy getting ready to hit me with a sword, I put my sword up to block. The guy with the bow hits me in the side, causing me to drop my sword.

"Skye!" I look around and see Max is holding Keera preventing her from helping me, he just smiles at me. The two guys team up on me and take me by surprise while I'm looking at Keera, I get cut, hit by arrows. The one with the sword tries to stab me but I move before getting shot at by an arrow, it hits me in the back of my knee and I fall to the ground.

I can hear Keera crying while Max just laughs. "I told you what would happen." The two guys kick and punch me and all I can do is curl up in a ball protecting my head. "Finish her, I'm taking the girl."

"Skye!" Keera yells as she sobs. "Get up!"

"Shut up!"

Keera tries to yell something but Max covered her mouth, I look up and see the guy with the sword getting ready to stab me again, I hear Max yell and Keera runs over to me. The two guys push her away from me and Max grabs her. He breaks one of her arms and she cries in pain.

"Max, let her go!"

"Do it." I watch as Max walks away with Keera, the two guys beating me up again enjoying themselves. "You're going to pay for that little stunt. Let's watch your friend's life be taken away." Max holds Keera so she's forced to watch, he holds a knife to her throat, every time she turns away or moves the knife cuts into her.

I feel a sharp pain in my side and I yell, I look over and see an arrow sticking out. Max laughs and I look over, I see blood running down Keera's neck and the amount of pain she's in.

Everything goes dark.
