Gluttony and Abstinence -E-

{|AN|}

{|This chapter will be filled with explanations for things, so keep an eye out if you're interested but you can skip the elements explanation. That's quite long.|}

My consciousness returns as I sit up albeit slowly. My eyes flutter open as I'm greeted with the forge's methodical sound and the sight of the outside.

'What time is it?'

[1:24AM, 14 hours and 54 minutes since launch.]

I stare at the hovering screen in front of me in confusion.

'It, answered me?'

[Yes.]

My expression changes slowly as I remember what happened before I fell unconscious.

'Right, I'm a 'Queen' now, ugh.'

I fall back to relax only to land on something.

"Hm? Ah, Ellery, you're awake. How did you sleep?"

The familiar voice enters my ears as I relax more, glad I didn't land on something or someone else. Shue, the ridiculous slime is behind me. Bloody hell, I'm going to need a ton of time to adjust to this, but, how much time do we even have before something happens. RIght, what does my status say now?

'Lots, lots of new things. Hell, I'm going to need at least a week to adjust to this, but I still doubt we'll have that time.'

After checking my status I close it, uninterested in it. For now anyway. I stand up and stretch my limbs.

'It feels, weird? Why does it feel weird to stretch? Am I tense? That's probably it. I wonder if Xue can do massages, that'd be good for me.

Still, I don't know if it's my stats or something else but... my body feels light, stronger. It probably is the stats. It's undeniably a nice feeling though, it's like when you drink coffee, the feeling of energy. That reminds me, I wonder how the RV is now? I hope Linde is taking care of it. I hope Linde's okay, I don't doubt it though, she loves this type of stuff.'

"First on the list is teaching you more magic than yesterday. Your prowess with visualization will help with it."

With one leg at 90° and the other opposite and on a heel. I turn my head to the voice and see Xue. As he said, he taught me magic yesterday, albeit just how to move and refine rocks. It's how the forge was built, but it took a long time. I needed to sit around for 10 minutes after using up my mana, definitely not a good feeling that. It's similar to running out of breath, but you can breathe faster to make up for that whereas for mana it lasts until it's completely back.

"After that, I'll list some things you need to know as the 'Queen' and also about the system."

To this I respond.

"It answers my questions every now and then, but they're limited."

Xue bounces a little, which I'll take as a nod. He then continues with his explanation of various things, to which I bring out a notebook from my grey camo bag to take notes.

...

To summarize. For the 'Queens' and 'Kings' they have skills according to their titles, if they are a Queen, they'll receive the opposition to the King. The King, however, has a choice of which they choose from their title. In Xue's case, he chose Gluttony over Abstinence. Another thing is that the system will answer questions from the Kings and Queens, but depending on the question and the level of your [King's/Queen's Authority] Skill.

In regarding to magic, here's a summary of yesterday: Magic skills can be used as a crutch for activation and control, but it's not recommended, as there are limits. To this I agree. There are however, two benefits to using the system's crutch. One of such is that the magic circle is auto completed and invisible to others. The other is that you will automatically understand the runes used to make the circle and how each of them correspond to the 'meaning' of the circle.

As for today! The summary is as follows. The benefits of learning the runic language and mastering magic without the crutch is a title: Magician, as well as rune casting as a passive skill. Rune casting is when you can simply use magic to draw runes in the air, their meaning will cast a spell depending on what type of mana you use! This is the best benefit, without a doubt.

Xue also explained the basic, intermediate and higher forms of magic. Combination magic is apparently not discussable yet, which is confusing.

The basic forms are the following.

Fire, the third highest in terms of DPS (damage per second) and second in terms of destructive potential. This, along side Water, Earth and Wind are the most common basic elements.

Water, the first ranked of basic elements in all-rounder capabilities. This element is versatile and effective for support or strategic fights. This, along side Earth, Wind and Fire are the most common basic elements.

Lightning, along side Shadow, are quite rare to get as basic elements but not the rarest. In terms of destructive capabilities this element ranks third among the basic forms, however, it is also first ranked in terms of physical buffs, with the result of a Tier 3 buff making a level 1 able to fight level 10.

Light, along side Dark, are very rare to get as elements unless you obtain an elemental core. Xue talked about those briefly, they're obtainable in places completely filled with that specific element. Light is second in terms of buffs but first in terms of healing capabilities amongst the basic elements.

Earth, with top tier defensive capabilities is only second to water in versatility. This element is very powerful in it's basic form and also has the highest chance for an elemental mutation. Among the basic elements, Earth, along side Wind, Fire and Water, are the most common elements.

Xue said that elemental mutations are when you receive a different basic element with similar qualities, in place of the element you're using. For example, you could receive Metal magic, but it'd get rid of your Earth magic.

Wind, considered the element that's best to use by many, Wind's versatility and power may be third-rate, however, it does have extreme adaptability. Wind, alongside Fire, Water and Earth are the most common elements.

Shadow, along side Lightning, are quite rare to get as a basic element. Shadow's defensive capability is second to Earth, but it's stealth and assassination capabilities are top-notch with it's second ranked DPS. This element is recommended for those who are more speed and strength oriented, rather than defence and such.

Dark, this, along side Light, are very rare to get as a basic element. Specialized on weakening and buffing, the Dark element is able to boost a level 1's capabilities to a level 5's and weaken a level 5 to that of a level 1. This is a dangerous element, as the elemental mutation: Corruption can be gained from it.

Corruption. This element is a danger. Just as bad as Purification. While it doesn't do anything fancy like change your entire skeletal structure, it will slowly change your mindset to that of what you hate most. Be it an insect, girl, boy or demon.

Purification. This element is dangerous. Just as bad, if not more so, that Corruption. Just like corruption, it doesn't change your physical body, but changes your mindset. You will slowly want to 'purify' creatures that you consider 'impure beings'.

However, what makes it worse than corruption, is that there are no limits to this. You could consider your parents impure beings and slaughter them without paying attention. You'd slowly consider imperfect or impure beings, an annoyance, a pest. A problem.

Destruction. Apart from elemental mutations, this is the rarest basic element to get. Destructive capabilities 1st Ranked. DPS, 1st ranked. Due to being closely related to the Draconic species this element will cause a Draconification. The process of turning you into a pure-blooded dragon. This element is one of, if not the most powerful, even amongst the intermediate and higher forms. Only losing out to three others.

Although powerful, the more you use it, the further the Draconification progresses. Most people with this element. Have died half way through the process.

Because they committed suicide.

The Draconification process is, the second worst if not the worst, process in the world. You'd prefer torture to this process half the time.

Xue said he really, really hopes we don't find someone with this element.

I can't see why yet, but I have a feeling I will.

The Intermediate Elements. Apart from Shadow and Lightning, the other elements receive an intermediate element. Shadow and Lightning are the only two elements with Basic and Higher forms only.

Burst. The intermediate form of the Fire element. Focused on the ability to destroy and accelerate. This is the 2nd ranked DPS and Destruction element amongst the Intermediate ranks.

Ice. The versatility of this element is higher than that of it's basic form, Water, but depending on the user, it could sacrifice it's original capabilities. This element is specialized depending on the user's visualization of Ice.

Healing. Taking it's healing capabilities to the max, the intermediate form of Light magic can heal on a large scale, with it's power inversely proportional to the amount of people it's used on at a single point.

Nature. Taking your connection to Gaia and the world itself further. This upgraded form of Earth allows you to control and speak flora and, although control is limited, fauna as well.

Breeze. Breeze magic, the intermediate form of wind magic is extremely deadly when the user know just how to use it. When facing one of these magic users, make sure you have an Earth user near you.

Curse. Taking it's weakening and buffing capabilities further, the Curse element has the ability to allow you to fight someone 20 to 40 levels higher depending on how you use it.

Draco. 1st Ranked in Destructive and DPS capabilities among Intermediate. This upgraded form of Destruction magic is obtained when 30% of the Draconification is completed. This element only loses out to two elements in terms of DPS and Destructive power.

Higher Magic.

Considered the epitome of the element, these forms, if used in a certain way, can be natural disasters.

Only four ways are known of how to obtain these elements.

One, survive for five decades in an elemental location with the element at it's intermediate stage.

Two, absorb elemental cores. Without training the intermediate version of the magic, it would take hundreds of thousands to obtain it.

Three, understand the very concept of the element.

Four. Get a blessing from the king or queen of spirits based off the certain element.

Vibration. The peak of fire magic, with the focus being able to cause an entire area to burn up by accelerating the very particles vibration to the maximum. This element is capable of wiping out a kingdom with sufficient preparation.

Oceanic. The peak of water magic, with the focus being it's versatility higher than any other element in the world. This element can create Ice, Cold Fire, Steam and more. Should an Oceanic element user wish it, they could drown a sixth of any continent.

Electric. The electric element is the higher form of the Lightning element. This element can tear things apart easily by targeting the molecular structure of something. Never fight someone like this without protection or Anti-magic.

Holy. This element is considered blessed by the gods to certain religions. Shields, Healing and Buffs being the center of this element. Such users of this element can revive people who've died within the last day, these users are the bane and savior of large battles.

Quake. The quake element is the most defensive and fifth destructive of all elements. Should you fight someone with this element. I recommend you fly.

Boreal. The boreal element is a terrifying thing to fight against, specifically when the user can use it well. The versatility is only second to Oceanic and the DPS, 1st ranked among all elements. This element's ability to sever things is unhealable. You can only hope you don't have to fight people with this element unless you have a higher element as well.

Umbra. This element is the higher form of shadow magic. No-one has any information on this type of magic. No-one has ever obtained it. The system has said one thing about it.

If you fight an Umbra user without a Higher Element, you will die. Unconditionally.

Void. The peak of dark magic. Only two people have ever obtained this magic. Both have had the capability to destroy nations with a flick of the wrist.

Draconic Element.

This magic can only be obtained by those who have gone through the Draconification process. Not even dragons are born with this element.

Second ranked DPS and Destructive capabilities of all elements.

1st Ranked Destructive element.

Space.

Those with the Space element can obliterate a continent in a day and can move a nation half-way across the world in two. That is all that is known about it's usages as only one person ever got it.

Xue said he has two elements but only told me he has water. He also explained one last thing. Affinity Ranks. They depict how attuned to the element you are, less than a hundred people have gotten the highest rank of any element.

The ranks are as following,

Lesser Small, Small, Higher Small.

Lesser Medium, Medium, Higher Medium.

Lesser Acquainted, Acquainted, Higher Acquainted.

Known, Perfect, Synergised and the highest rank.

Harmonious.

Aside from this the only other thing Xue explained was abo-

"Xue! Ellery! FOOD!!"

Jake's shout sounds like he's right next to me from here even though I'm at least 40 meters away. Is this the effect of the higher stats again? Jeez. I'll really need a while to adjust.

"Xue, let's talk more later. I'm wondering what they made for food."

After the signature bounce-nod from Xue, I hesitate before picking him up and walking over to the forge. He's soft and squishy, like a plush more than a slime.

"Ellery, maybe not do this again?"

I look at where I feel Xue's gaze from and smile without answering. Xue sighs and I keep walking. After getting about 3 or so meters away from the forge, the pungent stink hits me. Worried, I walk into the forge and look at the table.

Seeing the charred fish and purple substance that I think is meant to be soup. I drag the table over to the entrance which earns me gazes from all of them.

"You lot, CAN'T COOK!"

I shout and toss the table and it's food out the entrance and turn to be greeted with dropped jaws.

"What's wrong? I can just make another table."
