7 ==> A Friend In Need

The sun came shining directly into your resting eyes as you hissed violently at the heated rays, rolling the opposite way and making a loud THUD as you hit a wood covered floor. A low groan escaped through your lips, the sharp pain coursing onto your back with vengeance from suddenly falling. "Fucking floor..." Your groggy voice mumbled as you scanned the area in confusion, sleepiness still lingered in your system. You had almost forgot that you fell asleep here with Kankri, but he was nowhere to be seen. His blanket was gone and everything was tidied and cleaned up in the room, he must have left for work.

The snare you call a blanket was wrapped around your feet and immobilized you from getting off the hard wood, but you easily kicked it off with a profanity leaving your lips. You stumble off the floor and stretch to the celling, making your sore back pop in a few places. Maybe sleeping in other places besides your bed was a horrible idea, but at least you had some bonding time with your brother. As embarrassing as it sounds, you needed that time. It was enjoyable to say the least and personally, you wouldn't take it back even if you had the chance. The things you've learnt about your mother was reassuring and helped you discover some closure about a few mishaps in your life. Hell, you already feel better mentally as weight was lifted off your tired shoulders.

There was a piece of paper neatly folded on the small table where a few picture frames sat collecting dust. It gotten your full attention when money was sitting right by it as well. Curiosity had stricken you and your hand reached for the letter. When you opened it up, you were corrected to see his small cursive decorating the blank page:

Karkat,

I assume due to the poorly thought out plan of staying up longer than usual, you're going to sleep til noon. By the time you finally get awake, I will most possibly be gone to work by now. For you, I have prepared a list of items to pick up and the exact amount of money to pay for these items. Please and thank you in advance. I will see you later tonight as usual.

- Kankri

P.S. The events last night was more than pleasing and I appreciate sharing a sensitive moment like that with you. Knowing you, I promise to keep this between us and only us. You have my sincere word.

Your lips purse as you give a small sigh. You love your brother to the most platonically possible blood related feeling without it getting weird, but trusting you to go grocery shopping highly unacceptable in your book. The amount of trust he has in you is surprising, but you assume there were only a few possible outcomes to why he thought it was a great idea to do this to you. One, he thinks you need the responsibility. Two, he's obviously busy and has no time to go himself, therefore you're an only option. Three, he just wants you out of the house.

Giving a shrug to no one in particular, you messily folded the note, along with the list of food and money into your pocket. Getting out of the house may be a slight issue for you, but being alone again isn't the one thing you cherish about unemployment at the moment. You gathered your blanket and pillow, trudging to your room with the heap in your hands. Dumping your items on the human mattress, you snatched up your phone which seems to have no messages from anyone. You're surely a popular one to be exact, definitely.

With the club meeting coming up soon and your promise to attend such a social slander, the obvious failure is being printed upon your forehead in a permanent substance. It's almost ironic when you compare last nights events to now. The ideal of change is so far-fetched for a troll like you, yet others thought you can succeed with such little doubt in their minds. Moving on is a difficult thing to do when you're the one who holds nasty grudges against everything. The literature club can be a positive place for someone like you, if, you give it a chance. It's a little sketchy to you, everything leading onto this day. The one day you're freaking on about, thats just a meeting of other trolls who have a passion for writing. Do you have that? Well, you're not too sure at the moment.

Tap.

A faint noise echoed through the empty household, making you jump a little and drop your phone. "Shit." You reached down and placed your only source of communication protectively into your pocket. Hopefully it didn't crack again, though other times it was purposely thrown at someone's head or a wall.

Tap.

You quickly made your way back into the living room, following the anonymous sound that was itching at your nerves a bit. What even is that? The realization of you being home alone started to settle inwards and make you nervous. You can't even fend yourself, let alone fight off an intruder. Both of your family members are working and they'd find you dead in the kitchen, holding a cheese grater. You wonder how disappointed they would be if you tried to defend yourself with that kind of kitchen equipment?

TAP.

It was definitely coming from outside, this not helping the intense paranoia punching through your poor mind. Your heart was racing at the thought of many executed scenarios on how you'll die with that cheese grater in hand, your funeral would be a joke. There was only one way to calm yourself, and your hand was hesitant but resting on the metal doorknob to the hive. You took a few breaths to mentally prepare yourself before slowly cracking the door open. Nothing and no one was at the door step other than a few different sized rocks, which confused you a bit. The door was wide open now as you took a step outside to pick up and examine the random rocks, were they being thrown at the door? It could explain the noi-

"Ow! Fucking shit!" A sudden shot of pain ignited on your stomach as you fell to your knees, gripping the black cotton. You looked up to see a familiar face wave as if nothing was wrong about the situation. You felt a little dizzy, but shook it off and straitened back up in a ball of anger towards the cocky yellow-blood, having an enjoyable riot. You managed to wheeze and catch your breath before having an episode. "What the hell was that for?! You scared the living shit out of me! I thought you were an intruder, but you were being a ridiculous scumbag and decided 'Oh hey I'm gonna throw fucking rocks at this dudes house then when he comes outside, I'll throw another at his stomach hehe fucking ho.' Don't expect me to be nice about this situation. You know how paranoid I am! Hey, stop laughing asshole! This is serious! You inflicted intentional pain on me, are these black feelings I sense?! Well sorry to pop that mess of an ego, but I'm certainly not interested in you, Captor."

By the time you've finished, you were now face to face with none other than the Sollux Captor himself. With his smartass attitude, horrible lisping impediment, and mix-matched shoes, his character seems to attract a lot of unwanted attention. Though you two's relationship is confusing sometimes, like now, he's been a decent friend to you ever since he was placed into the neighborhood, as well with his parents and older brother. You haven't been around them too much to judge, but you're pretty sure they all have the same infatuation with themselves as their son does.

"Hold on a thecond," Sollux gasped and wiped his eyes from the intense laughing, making you roll your eyes. "That was fucking prithleth, I thould have recorded that pieth of gold!"

An agitated scoff formed on your features as your arms folded across your chest, "You're a prick, you know that?"

"It's not the firtht time anyone'th called me that, tho yeah." He finally recollected his slouching composure and adjusted the glasses that sat on the bridge of his nose, a smirk forming at the base of his lips. "But uh, to anthwer your quethtion, don't flatter yourthelf too often. I'm more of a tholo type of romanthe at the moment."

"I kind of figured you to be a lefty anyways." You sneered at the sarcastic individual, mentally high-fiving yourself with the quick comeback.

His eyes could shoot daggers if they were allowed, but this only made you give a chuckle. "That wath'nt cool. The Vrithka thing ith thtill going on, tho technically she ith doing all the touching."

The high interest in any type of quadrant related relationships have always been your thing. For some ironic reason, while you're sitting there obsessing over every detail of your friend's relations, you've yet to manage a single sexually intentional quadrant. Though having a moirail like Kanaya is incredibly helpful in some situations, other specific needs have yet to be discovered only by your own embarrassed hand. You're starting to feel like a hypocrite, standing there letting your bulge intertwine through your fingers like the virgin you are.

"Uh, Karkat?"

"Hm...?" A look of slight concern came from your friend. Maybe you shouldn't be indulging with your vacant mind at the moment.

With a hint of annoyance coating his voice, he respired. "Like I athed, what are you doing today? Becauthe I have thith thing that I can't do alone tonight and need your help."
