"Her soul burns as bright as her red lips."

Born in a segregated world amongst humans and trolls, Karkat Vantas seems to be the outcast of both. With his daily struggles of mental health, racial violence, and abandonment issues, is the concept of love too farfetched for this mutant? With rebellion at the edge, he sure wasn't ready to fall face first into the pages of poetry, eros, and total chaos.

The story is characterized by its use of the second person point of view. It is my first time seeing it used for a novel of this type. Time will judge the author’s use of the second person to fulfill the psychological aspects of their story. The story has a compelling hook and does a good job introducing the reader into the world. I like the word selection the author uses to replace words or to describe something in an interesting way. The grammar is near flawless and the sentences flow well into each other. I look forward to how the author develops this story. I will certainly be keeping tabs on this novel.

The book was interesting because of its unique writing technique, and the nice description of the characers and the plots. It flowed smoothly from one scene to another. The characters were able to deliver the right emotions. I will say that you need to keep writing more.
