Jealous

Third Person's Point of View

AYANA went out from her car the moment she reached their home and Gavin waited for her in the living room. He looked hard at her but he continued to stare for several seconds, trying to hide what looked like an expression of intense anger.

She was about to go upstairs but Gavin stopped her. She turned around to face him with a tired look.

“How did you know Asher?” The angry response was instant, his voice thundering with such rage.

“He’s your cousin. What’s wrong—”

Gavin cuts her off. “I never introduced him to you. How come you already know him?!” She became puzzled by the tone of his question.

She can’t find any wrong about knowing Asher. He is Gavin’s cousin, what’s wrong about that? Why is it so big deal to her husband?

She took a deep breath. “It doesn’t matter how or where I met Asher. He’s your cousin. I must know him.” She said, temporarily forgetting the fear.

His gaze darkened and his voice lowered intimately. “It does matter, Ayana. Where did you meet him? Tell me!” He was clenching his jaw and was controlling himself not to feel any anger towards her.

She doesn’t know why Gavin reacts that way. Her forehead creased.

“What’s your problem? Why are you being like this right now?” She mockingly giggled. “He’s your cousin for fuck’s sake, Gavin! I don’t see any wrong about that!” She was so confused.

“You didn’t answer my question, Ayana.”

Fear sipped through her when she met the cold eyes of Gavin. He’s really mad now. She took a deep breath once again as she gave up. “I met him at the bar and he’s the one who drove me home last night. I actually didn’t know that he’s your cousin. I just know it earlier.”

She was flabbergasted when Gavin grabbed her hand and even though she looked terrified and tried to pull it away, he pressed his fingers against the side of her neck. Their faces were so close and she can feel his breathing fanning in her face. And his scent sent shivers on her.

Her heart thuds crazily. She doesn’t know what to do. By Gavin’s intense stare, she suddenly felt an unknown sensation.

“How could you let other guys be near you?” Gavin grimly whispered in her ear. He held her tighter. “You don’t have the right to do that, Ayana. You don’t have.”

She tried to say something, but the words were lost somewhere between her thoughts and her lips. Before she could compose herself, Gavin already left her there, hanging. He went upstairs and didn’t bother to look back.

She was catching her breath the moment she sat down on the sofa. Manang Belen approached her. She probably saw everything.

She felt tears rising, pressing hot and furious against her eyelids. “I don’t… know why Gavin acting that way.” She was stuttering. She wiped the tears that consistently flowing on her cheeks. “But this is what I want, right? To get Gavin’s attention; to feel that he still cares for me.” Her sobs became louder. “But why I’m still in pain?” Her eyes stung and her throat burned with unshed tears of frustration.

Manang Belen hugged her. “He’s confused by his own feelings.”

Why it seems Gavin doesn’t want her to approach another guy? While in fact, he doesn’t care at her before. He can’t even stay with her even just a minute. Seeing her makes his mood bad. Then, why is he acting like that now?

“He’s like a riddle, too hard to understand.” She wiped her tears again and a weak smile appeared in her lips. “But one thing is for sure. I will never get tired of loving him.”

She knows she can’t give up Gavin. He’s her life. And she can’t afford to lose her life.
