Chapter 16: Consequences

Alther's mind was reeling. There was a dead man in front of him. A man he'd killed. Alther couldn't just pin the blame on anyone else either. He had felt it. He had felt the magic rushing out of him.

It was his fault.

Sure, Alther wanted to stop the man from hitting the others, but this was more than he'd asked for.

He thought he was going to be sick.

Jacob yanked Alther away from there, leading him back to the castle as quickly as he could. He said a few things, but Alther couldn't understand any of the words so he just followed along.

Alther didn't even realize he was in his room until Jacob ordered him to sit on the bed.

"Stay here, Prince Alther," Jacob walked quickly to the door. "I'll go get your brother, alright? Just wait here."
