Chapter 6: Hide and seek

It's been a few days since I woke up cuddling with Noah on the couch with a blanket over us which means that Max probably saw us. That means, knowing him, he has a picture of us on his phone just waiting for the opportunity to use it. If that's using it against me to get something like that I don't know.

Well not that it matters anyway. Right now I am on my way to Noah's house to hang out since we both have been busy on school work for the last few days and haven't been able to meet up. He says he has some game planned for us to play and I am kind of scared to know what it is.

As I reach the address I realise that he lives in an apartment. I look around to see if I can spot him and as I do I notice someone near a tree beside the apartments. I go towards that person and notice that it is Noah. He is looking out into the forest behind the apartments, probably daydreaming or something because he doesn't notice me coming towards him.

"Hey Noah, what are you doing over here?" I whisper into his ear from right behind him.

This causes him to jump away from me and fall over.

"Oh my god. You gave me a heart attack Sam. I didn't even notice you were there." He replies breathing heavily.

"It's not my fault you were too busy daydreaming that you didn't notice me coming over. Well I'm here now so what is it you have planned for us to do today?" I say as I help him up off the floor.

"Well I have a very simple game planned that needs no preparation or effort." He says before taking a deep breath. "We are going to be playing HIDE AND SEEK! Yayyyyyy!" He shouts really excitedly.

To be honest I am actually really happy. I love to play hide and seek.

"Where are we going to be playing it?" I ask looking around noticing there aren't any places to hide around the apartment area.

"Isn't that obvious?" He says waving his hands behind him. "We will be playing in the forest." He says all happy.

"Oh this is going to be so easy. Are you sure you don't want to play it somewhere else?" I ask really confidently with a smirk on my face.

"Oh you seem so confident don't you? Why is that. I am the one who lives beside the forest and have been in it loads of times." Noah asks while looking at me in the eyes.

I go right up to him and look him dead in the eyes.

"No matter where, but especially in a forest, you can't beat me in a game of hide and seek I am sorry to say." I reply as I walk past him towards the forest.

I hear him running up beside me and slowing down to keep at my speed.

"And why would you say that my dear Sammy boy." He says back making me slightly blush.

"That's because I have never lost a game of hide and seek in the woods. Nobody has ever been able to find me and I have always found them really quickly." I say as we start to walk into the forest. "Now, who is going to be hiding first?"

"I will hide first and you will try to find me. You have to count to 50." He says as he starts to run into the forest to find his hiding spot.

"OK!" I shout as I start to count to 50 in my head.

As I am counting I begin to notice that it is very quiet in the forest. It seems that he isn't running anymore but it has only been 30 seconds. I finish counting to 50 and I shout out that I'm finished and coming to find him.

As I start walking into the forest I notice some broken branches and upturned rocks so I follow them knowing that this is the path he took. I keep following them until they stop which confuses me since they just stop. I look around and notice some trees close to where the tracks stopped.

As I am looking around I sense someone watching me from above. I look for the nearest tree and go over to it and look up. When I look up I notice a person really high up in it.

"Noah I see you all the way up there. Please come down now." I shout up at him worried he might fall and get hurt.

"Ok I'm coming down now." He shouts down to me as I see him basically leap from branch to branch down the tree.

"Shit Noah. You can climb really well, like really, really well." I say really surprised. "I can see why you wanted to play in the forest."

"True but you still found me so it wasn't that good of an idea." He says back slightly defeated.

"Hey cheer up. I told you no one can beat me in the forest. If I was anyone else they would not have been able to find you up there for a while." I say impressed with that hiding spot.

"How did you find me anyway." Noah asks me while he looks around at the area.

"Well." I say pointing to a bit of the ground that turned up slightly "I followed your tracks to this area and then felt like someone was watching me form above so I looked for the newest tree and looked at the top to see if you were there. Which you were." I explain as I see his face turn from curiosity to amazement.

"That is so cool. You can follow tracks in the forest." He says staring at the place I had pointed to. "Well it's your turn to hide now so go on and I'll count to 50." He says as he closes his eyes to begin counting.

I start by running into the forest some more. I look around and concentrate really hard on the all the trees. I have magic so I should use it. I sense a hollow tree nearby that should be big enough for me to fit into. I run over to it, making sure I cover my tracks as I go, and get into the tree.

I wait for around 20 minutes until I finally hear someone running through the forest. I listen carefully and notice it is Noah. He stops a few meters away and seems to just stand there. I hear him whispering to himself and then he speaks up.

"I know you are somewhere near here. So I will be finding you soon, don't you worry." I hear him say.

I have to hold in my laughter because I can hear the slight worry in his voice. He starts to look around and on top of all the trees. I hear him getting closer so I pick up a rock and threw it away from where I am.

It seems when I did this he ran to where the noise was and looks around in a circle. He then starts to walk towards the tree that I am in and when he gets beside he stops.

"Found you Sam. You can get out of the tree now." He says all happy.

"Wow, you actually found me. That's impressive. You are the first person to ever find me in a forest." I say as I get out of the tree.

"Hehehehe I am just that good. Joking I just got lucky, If you hadn't thrown the rock I wouldn't have found you."

"Oh so I shouldn't have thrown that ok. Good to know for next time. Well we should head out of the forest now. It is getting late and I have not had dinner yet."

"Ok. We can go to my apartment and I can cook some dinner for us." He says as we start walking out of the forest and towards the apartments. "Oh you can have a sleep over to, since it's getting late." He adds really quickly.

"Ya that would be cool." I replay smiling at him as we enter the apartment building.
