“Familiar and scary territory”

I had no regrets about what I had done. They kidnapped my baby and had to pay for it. But I knew I couldn't stay in this place any longer. What I'd done was going to cost me something, and I didn't want to stay to find out what it was. Timothy, like Eke, would be out for vengeance, and I couldn't stand by and watch my Light get caught in the crossfire once they were ready for me. In other words, I had to leave, and I had to leave quickly.

When I returned from the neighbour's house with my baby safely in my arms, I went straight to my room and jammed the door, locking it. I put Light in his crib and then dashed around the room, stuffing random items we needed into a large suitcase and hurriedly zipping it up.
