Episode 8

Next morning...

Rafay as usual came down for breakfast and saw his mother waiting for him with breakfast. Striding down he kept his coat on the chair and took a seat. His mother stared at him taking a notice of the redness in his eyes. His face was not fresh as always it seemed he had not slept peacefully. It was unusual for him to be like this and it was clear as day that something was bothering him.

"Mom where is the news paper?" He asked irritated while looking at the table.

"Its on the right side of your hand Rafa." His mother replied looking how bothered he looked. She had an assumption while she just needed a confirm it whether what she thought the reason to be it was right or wrong.

He started eating while going through the paper absent mindedly. She poured him a glass of spinach juice keeping it near him. Not noticing the glass he knocked it down. As the juice spill over he quickly stood up cursing himself for his carelessness. His mother who was observing him quickly took few tissues and gave it to him while putting a napkin on the spilt juice.

"What is wrong with you?" She asked him as she saw him settling over a couch while she gave him his tea.

"Nothing." He replied looking at her.

"I am asking you about yesterday night. Why did you yelled at Elnaz?" She asked seriously which caused him to keep his coffee aside as he turned to look at his mother.

"Mom she was late and she did not bother to inform us." He said her calmly.

"She had informed us Rafay. Her friends car broke down and she had called us that she would be late. Infact she had informed us even when she left. You shouldn't have yelled at her." She told him authoratively.

"I didn't knew about that but." He said picking his coffee up.

"Still you don't have any right to yell at her. You could have spoken nicely."

"Mom she should have informed me. I was concerned." He objected.

"Yes. But she doesn't has to inform you everytime she does something out of office. First learn to be nice rather than cold hearted. You are not her husband to object at that." His mother replied cunningly at which he opened his mouth to reply but as he heard the past sentence he stayed stunned with his mouth agap. It was clear to her that the conversation was done for as she saw his expression. Shaking his head he asked her to call Elnaz as he was getting late for office.

She should have been here by now.

Whats taking her so long? He pried on. His mother asked one of her maids to call Elnaz. She had to apologize for her son's behaviour to her she thought. She just hoped that she was not too bothered by him. Just one day away and this happened. When is her son going to understand relations she thought. If he remains so tough and brooding then it would be very difficult to find him a girl.

"Ma'am Elnaz is not well. She has a fever running up." Her maid informed her while Rafay had been waiting for Elnaz in parking area.

"What? Call the doctor." She said and rushed up to check on Elnaz.

What is taking so long? He though getting irritated as he was late for the meeting which was scheduled at 9 am. Asking his driver Richard to wait he went inside the house. He looked around the hall and saw his mother also missing.

"Where is mother?" He asked one of the maid who was cleaning the flower vase.

"She is up in Elnaz's room." She replied.

Going up he knocked twice and entered the room.

"Mom i told-" he stopped upon seeing his mother massaging Elnaz's head while she slept. His mother told him to keep quiet. He studied Elnaz who looked sick with her slight parted lips, red nose. Her eyes had a light bags under them. When he saw her tear streaked face his heart wilted in gulit. She had cried at night and the dried tears were the proof. Going near her he whispered to his mother about her condition.

"She has fever." She replied back slowly.

"Have you called the doctor?" He asked concerned.

"Yeah. I did. He would be here in an hour or two." She replied.

"Why so late? I will go and bring him here." He told her as he left the room. His meeting long forgotten. He had this guilt eating up on his heart. It was all his fault. He should have dealt with her gently if he had any questions. He should have been a true gentleman rather than going all alpha on her. He was seriously disappointed somewhere and he couldn't point why he behaved in such harsh manner.

With in twenty minutes he bought the doctor and both the mother and son got her check up done. The doctor scribbled some medicines and advised her to rest for a day or two. After which he left.

His mother made sure to give her breakfast along with medicines which he bought while informing his mom to tell her that she has a weeks leave granted by him.
