After a week..
Elnaz had enjoyed her week's holiday and rested well. Although she didn't took any trip outside the house but staying in her room she streamed through Netflix watching her favourite series vampire diaries. She purposely used to ignore coming face to face with Rafay. On the other hand he thought that she might be depressed and that's why she has confined herself to her room. He felt ashamed for the first time of his behaviour.
There were times when he would come from rowing and would think about her or would stand outside her room thinking if he should talk to her or check upon her but then again entering a girl's bedroom without permission was not in his character. Sometimes he would hopefully wait to see her at the dinning table but to his dismay she used to have her food in her room. His father and mother had given her space. They understood her.
But today anyways she would have to come in front of her. As her holiday had ended and she would have to join office. So he was eagerly waiting at the breakfast table. His mother had served him his breakfast while he read the newspaper. It was past nine and still she was nowhere to be seen.
'Has she forgotten that today she has to join?' He thought.
'Is she well?' His subconscious chided in between.
When he was getting late he questioned his mother.
"Ammi is Elnaz going to attend office today?"
"She left forty-five minutes before already." His mother replied.
Now he knew that she was purposely ignoring him. He felt that he was in some game and it increased his excitement. It was like hide and seek which they used to play during childhood. He still remembered that when ever she used to get angry she would go and hide in the cupboard and he would find her no matter where she hid herself. He felt the same excitement coursing through him. But the time was different now and they where no more kids. Ignoring his stupid emotion he went to his office.
While entering his cabin he saw her in her office room typing something on her laptop. She was busy already. Not being nosy he went on carried his work. It was not until afternoon when he heard someone knock his cabin's door.
"Come in." He answered while looking on the data sheet. Elnaz quietly came in and stood before him waiting for him to finish his readings. When he noticed that someone is standing in front of him he glanced up.
"What is it?" He asked her seeing that she was not maintaining any eye contact.
"Your signatures are needed on this paper." Was all she replied.
"Give it to me." He took the paper and giving it a brief look he scribbled his sign on it.
"I thought that you wouldn't even come in my office for any sign or work. Are you done ignoring me?" Rafay prodded at her, looking at her smiling.
"It's nothing like that. I have work left." With those words she left his cabin not giving him any chance to ask any further.
He felt bad but it was his fault at the end. He did not want to stretch this matter any further. Therefore he decided to apologise to her. Getting up from his chair he went outside his cabin. He saw that Elnaz was keeping files on the side cupboard of her room. Knocking her office door he entered .
"Elnaz.. what ever happened that night-
"I don't want to talk about that night." She replied not wanting to continue it any longer.
"I am sorry. It was a misunderstanding." He apologised and left her room. It annoyed him that she was behaving this way. Ignoring him when all he wanted to do was apologise for his behaviour. Any way he was Rafay Rehan Mallick although he couldn't change what happened he did genuinely apologised to her and he felt his heart at ease. While he was not planning on to talk to her as long lost friends he just wanted themselves to back to how they where. He did not wanted her to carry any hard feelings about him knowing when they have to work under one company and live under one roof. It would be better if things were formal between them.
It was in the evening when they both left their respective office. He saw her entering the lift and before he could enter the lift the doors to lift shut down. After he came to the parking lot he saw that she had already left and took a subway train to home.
Sighing briefly he decided not to push her and let her be how she wants. He had done her part and it was not in his character to go behind anyone or to chase anyone unnecessarily.
As he reached home he saw her walking through the driveway and as she saw his car she quickened her pace and went inside.
