Elnaz makes POV:
" I am sorry. It was a misunderstanding."
His words echoed in my ears. He apologised to her and that was the last thing she thought he would do. She didn't knew how to respond to him and deep down she was hurt and couldn't forget the way he treated her. From childhood she was bashful towards him. She always felt nervous in his presence. It was as if he was scrutinising her every move and she had to think of every action before him.
Although it was hard to read him he always seemed complex to her. Stone face, less talkative, always taking note of surrounding and never being care free that was what he was for her and it was natural for her to feel guarded in front of him. But that night the way he shouted at her showed her how little he thought of her. He thought she was childish! What a compliment to a girl! She thought sarcastically.
No matter how carefree and easy going girl she was she never handled rudeness from anyone. After all whose daughter was she. She understood that he was worried and didn't wanted any harm to come upon her but he should have known that she is not that immature to roam outside without telling his parents. That's how he thought she was.
More so he came up to her and apologised but she didn't knew how to respond to him.
'Should she have smiled and said it's okay?'
Or
'Should she have nodded her head and said it's fine?'
Or
'Should she have scolded him the same way like he had done to her but of course her choice of words would be different like it should not happen again 0r perhaps if it happens again then I will tell my dad or bro!' She thought.
Nonetheless she had forgiven him way before he apologised. It's just that she didn't wanted to face him. It was like she actually felt ashamed that she didn't inform him or something sort of. She was not a girl to keep hard feelings for genuine people.
More over there was no need to communicate everything will be normal on its own. At least that saves her chance to talk to him and stay away from his scrutiny.
She got down from the subway and decided to reach home by walk. It was only fifteen minutes walk anyway. As she reached the driveway she saw his car driving through which jolted her to fasten her speed and enter the house.
Her heart was thudding at an unnatural speed knowing that she was ignoring him and he knew it and that made her feel like suspect in his eyes. After today's encounter she knew how might see her.
May be he thought of her as of unforgiving nature or angry upon him? Did he? She anticipated. What nonsense did she started to do the job of his thinking also! She mentally scolded herself.
Climbing the stairs she opened her bedroom door and took a sigh of relief. Finally some alone time! Slowly she changed her clothes and freshen up and lay down on her bed. She was so tired today that she needed a power nap. With that she dozed off.
During dinner time Rehan uncle asked her about her day at office to which she replied with nodding her head. Rafay on the other hand stayed silent and ate his dinner and left the table. He never at place where people ignored him and made him feel low. Therefore he minded his own business and kept away. But still his mind wandered back to her.
It was as if it kept on bothering him that he needed to prove himself that he didn't meant to hurt her but then his subconscious self stopped him from doing so after seeing how she responded to his apology.
The next day as usual he left after having his breakfast thinking Elnaz won't be joining him to his way to office but as soon as he reached the garage he saw her standing near his car. He observed her and noticed that she was lost somewhere. Clearing his throat he gained her attention. Startled at the sudden noise she looked at him and then moved aside as he opened the door of the car for her to take the seat. His driver was as usual standing beside him but he stayed out as he saw his employer opening the door for the lady.
Unusually he saw a different glint in Rafay's eyes and a hint of smile.
'May be Mr.Mallick has got a liking for Ms.Sufiyan.' He thought smiling and quickly opening the back door for him.
During the ride both of them kept quite. While Elnaz didn't wanted him to ask her anything or mention any thing about that night he too didn't wanted to remind her anything about it. It was as it had been before. Strangely he felt himself at ease. He couldn't comprehend why he felt so but it mattered to him because he felt his mind at ease. Rafay never appreciated change easily.
His car came to a halting stop when they reached the office building Elnaz got down as soon as Richard opened the door for her. Wishing Him good day she strated walking away when Rafay called her. Hearing her name she turned around to look at him.
"Have a good day." He smiled as she stared at him with that he entered his private elevator.
Did he smiled at me?
Really?
She thought perplexed.
