Episode 23

"So beta (child) how is your internship progressing?" Rehan uncle asked her.

"It's going excellent uncle." She replied while having food.

"Zain had called me to remind me that his daughters internship is coming to an end with in a month." He remarked.

"Oh. I totally forgot about it." Elnaz remembered.

"I told him that what's the hurry? To let you be here for some more time. But he was like I want to meet my daughter as soon as possible. I understand his feelings though just like I have for Firdaus." He told her.

"I understand uncle." Elnaz chided.

Upon hearing that her internship period is coming to an end Rafay looked up. He hadn't thought about it.

After dinner Elnaz decided to have walk in the garden. It was a chilly usual night. She sat on the iron swing and looked at the stars.

'I miss India very much but I will miss here too.' She thought. With time she had grew attached here too.

"Hot chocolate." She heard someone say. Quickly she turned around to see Rafay standing with two mugs of liquid. She gladly accepted one. For a cold chilly night a cup of hot beverage was a good pair up.

"Thank you." She whispered. He sat beside her sipping her hot chocolate.

"I hope during your internship period you gained much experience." He said.

"You made sure of it with every task you send on my way through Janet." She commented smiling.

"I have you tasks which I though you were capable of." He replied.

"Hmmm.." was all she replied.

"The tasks were easy but Janet could be handful at times." She laughed.

"Yeah she could be. I hope she didn't gave you a hard time." Rafay looked at her.

"Hmm.. even if she was I managed it." She said sincerely.

"I see you have learnt well. I will try and make your last month easy go enjoying type." He smiled.

"Easy go enjoying?" She looked at him perplexed.

"Yeah it's my way of explaining work and play both at the same time." He explained.

"Ohh."

"By the way congratulations you are going to be Phuppu ( aunt)." Rafay said.

"Same to you the. As you are going to be a mamu (uncle)" she laughed.

"Still cannot believe it!" He exclaimed.

"Why?"

"Firdaus is my younger sister and she is going to become a mother seems like she is going to have a big responsibility of deal with." He explained her.

"Yeah it is."

They both chatted for a while talking about different topics. While his parents stood up and watched them.

"What's do you think about them Rehan?" Umera asked her husband.

"What to think about?"

"Don't they make a lovely couple?" She asked looking at him.

"Are you implying that we should get them both married?" He asked.

"Yeah. I like Elnaz. She is a sweet girl. More over Rafay would like her too. They have known each other from childhood so they would adjust easily with each other." She muttered.

"That is right. But is your son ready for marriage?" He asked sitting on the bed.

"I asked him once but he just shrugged it off. But I think he will give in. After all he is off age to settle down." She told him joining him on bed. He kept his head on her lap.

"It would be good if they get married. I like Elnaz too." He replied closing his eyes.

Next day....

Elnaz smiled this morning looking at Rafay. Last nights conversation ended pretty well. As usual they left for office. But this time they weren't quiet on the ride. They conversed about various topics including politics. Even Richard was shocked to see both of them talking so much that they didn't took notice that they have reached the office building. Even on their way up the building they kept sharing views and at times they would laugh.

This didn't set well with Joey and Janet. Both of them looked at each other perplexed. They couldn't understand that yesterday's strangers returned today as friends.

"Are you seeing what I am seeing?" Janet whispered to Joey.

"Yes." He replied.

"How come they are talking to each other. We made sure that they wouldn't look at each other's faces." She questioned to which he nodded his head negatively.

Wishing him good day Elnaz's resigned to her office. Rafay seemed to be in a good mood today. Janet scattered in to his office to inform him about his days schedule. But looking at his happy go light mood her mood went dark. Keeping up a fake smile she went on and did her work.

After she was done reading his schedule she stomped her way out of his cabin. As she was out she texted Joey.

"Did you came to know something?"

He saw her message but didn't replied. She was irritated.

'Is it another bad day?' She thought.

Joey knocked twice on Elnaz's cabin's door and entered. She was doing something.

"Good morning to you." He wished her as he sat on a chair.

"Very good morning." She replied smiling.

"You seem to be in a good mood." He remarked to which she shrugged her shoulders.

"You seem to be friends with the CEO." He said but it seemed more of asking.

"We were friends but we don't show that at work." She explained.

"But I never saw you even casually saying a hi-bye." He retorted.

"Look I am leaving in a month. So he wanted to make my last month here a good memory." She said him.

"You are leaving?" He semi-yelled at her.

"Yes. You heard it correct."

"WHY?" He stressed.

"Look my internship period is over so I leave ." She told him.

"Internship over than join for office duty. Why leave?" He suggested trying to make sense.

"I came here only for internship. In India my father owns many businesses so I will end up handling one." She said.

"You never told me that you will leave in few months." He accused.

"Because it never came in topic." She sighed.

"That's not done."

"What have gotten into you? You seem grumpy at morning. Did you got up on other side of bed or what!" She said with her eyes popping out.

"I just don't want you to leave." He said silently.

"Why? Are you a kid? Am I your mother?" She joked.

"No." And with that he left her cabin.
