Chapter 06

When we went down there. We saw that everyone was in a hurry.

"What's happening ?", Chris asked to Mike.

"The nightwalkers are infiltrating. We have to do something", Mike replied in a hurried tone.

"What happen to UV Lights ?".

"They are switched on but the nightwalkers are abundant in population".

"Evacuate this place as soon as possible", Chris ordered to everyone.

I could see through the window. The nightwalkers are approaching towards us with great rage. Chris grabbed my hands and pull me.

"Come, we have to get out of here", Chris said to me.

I nodded but suddenly there is a weird silence occur. As if the nightwalkers suddenly vanish. No sound of footsteps only pin drop silence. And then BOOM ! a nightwalker jumps in breaking the front window of the factory and sprint towards us. But Chris and others shot it dead. But that's not the end. Suddenly one by one nightwalkers are coming in. And it was difficult to control them.

"We have to evacuate", Chris said to us.

I became worried and began to find Cindy. I saw her, she was with Carla. I approach them and we began to ran from there. After we enter deeper into the factory, the gunfires slows down then stop. I think thay can't be able to stop them.

"Where are we going ?", I asked to Carla.

"There is a hatch that goes beneath the factory leading into the sewers", she replied and we followed there.

We reach there. Carla open the hatch door.

"C'mon Cindy, get in", I said to Cindy.

She nodded and gets in. Then its my turn, I can smell the disgusting smell of the sewers but I don't have any choices. I gets in. Now its Carla's turn, but before she gets in. A nightwalker grab her and push her down onto the floor and bite her. She struggles but eventually the nightwalker overwhelmed as she died in front of us. I never saw much bloodshed in my life, this was really heart pounding and It cause shivers ran down my spine. After the nightwalker feast on her it turned it head towards us, it stood up. My heart is beating I don't know what should I do. I'm frozen, my body was half inside the sewer and half outside. I barely kept balance on the metal ledge to the sewers. I don't have any weapon to shoot at it. Suddenly I heard a crack of gun. When I glanced towards the voice, it was Chris and Mike on his beside. They survived. Chris hits the bullet on the eyes of the nightwalker.

"I thought you died", I said to Chris.

"I can play with dead too. Nightwalkers are just insects to me", he replied with a smile.

Finally we got into the sewers. Me, Cindy, Chris and Max are now alive. We have to get out of this.

"There's a bus in the south-west corner of the sewers. If we can able to escape this. We will be there", Mike spoke up.

"Nice idea. Now where is the way?", I asked to him.

"You don't have to say twice. I know the way out of here, just follow me".

We followed Mike and he's right we are out of that damn place and there's a bus waiting for us. Luckily there's a key already in the ignition.

"We save this bus for emergency", Chris said to me as he sat on the driver's seat.

"It is an emergency now", I replied in a soft voice.

"You're right", he said and we hit the road.

We're now on the road. I can see the streets were silent. And the ruined cars, with some carcasses inside. Its really like an apocalypse, instead it's an apocalypse.

"Where are we going ?", I asked to Chris turning my heaf to Mike who was in the back watching the streets and Cindy who is sitting silently in the passenger's seat shivering.

"There's a survivor camp at the outskirts of the town. We're heading that way", he replied.

I stood up and went to Cindy and sat beside her.

"Are you okay ?", I asked her.

"Yes, I'm fine", she said still shivering.

"I think you are shivering with cold".

"No I'm not. Its just a little don't worry".

"Listen, if you shivering like this. You will catch cold".

"I'm scared".

"Listen Cindy, you've to be tough. Don't worry we will make it to the camp safely", I said to her in a soothing voice.

"I'll try. But promise me Becky. You wont leave me alone.".

"I promise. Well, Cindy, where is your parents ?".

But before she could say a word. We heard a loud thump on the roof of the bus. Someone's up there. We were silent. Mike goes near to the rear window of the bus to inspect but suddenly we sew a nightwalker climb on the the rear window. Mike shot a good quantity of bullets on the windows causing it to break down and a bullet impaled the nightwalker's chest. Its impact eject the nightwalker from the bus and it fall onto the pavement. But suddenly, another nightwalker jump into the bus and kick Mike away which causes Mike's gun to eject from his hands and slips towards me. I didn't hesitate anymore and took up the gun. I covers Cindy behind me. And shoot as much as I can on the nightwalker. But it only budge a little. Now Mike stand up and impales a combat knife into it's head and threw it outside from the bus. Mike walked towards me.

"You know how to to use a gun ?", Mike said. I can see the surprise on his face.

"Me and Becky went to the shooting range five times in a week when we were in Los Angeles in our teenage", before I could spoke Chris already spoke up.

"Those are the days", I replied back with a smile.

The rest of the way was gone swifly without coming across any danger. I also forgot the questions about Cindy. And I think she also forgot it.
