Chapter 05

When I woke up, its 1:43 at night. But it doesn't make any sense as it is was night afterall. The sleep was nice and comfortable and it gave me some health. I gets out from my room and see Selena out there.

"Maybe you need some food and water", she said to me pointing at the table that has a basket of fruits and two water bottles.

"Thank you. By the way, have you seen Chris anywhere ?", I asked her nervously.

"He's at the roof patrolling the area", she replied.

"And where is Cindy ?", I asked again.

"Oh that girl, she's good enough. She's now sleeping".

"Okay, thank you again", I replied and sat on the chair near the table and ate the fruits.

After that I went upstairs leading to the roof. Finally, I found Chris. He was sitting on the floor resting his back onto the wall. I approach him and sat besides him. He glanced at me and again turned his head to the dark sky.

"So you wake up. Haven't you drink any coffee ?", he asked still looking at the sky.

"I want to meet you. Cindy is sleeping and the others, I'm not become friendly so quickly with someone", I replied.

"Ya I know. You took full one year to become friend with me".

"That's a problem. And I don't have any cure for this".

"I heard that you have a boyfriend".

"Don't ask ?".

"Why ?".

"He cheated me. He wants to shoot me for not giving Cindy to them as a bait".

"As a bait. For what ?", Chris asked curiously

"For the creatures that were chasing us before I met you".

"They're not creatures. They're Nightwalkers".

"Nightwalkers ? Is they are not infected by a virus ?".

"Who said this ?".

"My late boyfriend".

"He lied. I think he lied to you".

Now I'm sure. I lost faith in my boyfriend anymore.

"Please tell me the exact reason of this ?", I asked him curiously.

"There's a plane crash happened in an airport here".

"Ya I heard it to on the radio".

"Well........", his voice trails off. "You heard that some of the passengers were missing. The reason is, they were infected with a deadly strain of a disease called 'Comulane'. I have a doubt that there was a vector inside the plane before the crash. And that's the appropriate reason of this apocalypse".

"I got it. But how are this Nightwalkers ? I mean, what they do ? ".

"They bite or injured others transferring the strain. But they are vulnerable to lights. You see when you came here, we lit up some very high power lights. They are UV Lights, by this the skin of the nightwalkers got burn. But it only affects with UV Lights, not the other", he explained.

"Did we can't shoot them ?", I asked.

"Ya we can but it takes time to let one of them died. They are nearly immortal but have some weakness like I describe you now ".

"What if this plague spread to another countries ? ".

"Its a slow process but will have a disastrous consequences ".

"My next and last question. Everyone think you died. What actually happen in you Siberian mission ? ".

"Our Commander given us a task to capture a bioterrorist named 'Dorain Mason' a.k.a "Damon". He was one of the most dangerous bioterrorist ever. And it was to be a great achievement for us if we captured him. We were very close to him. But at the last moment, he blew up all his base killing himself and others. I was badly injured that time and stuck under a huge pile of debris. But I did not lost hope and after three days I was found by the resistance team. They took me to the hospital and declared me dead because of some circumstances. And after four years, I'm here with my team, because he get report about the new plague hoping that again someone causing bioterrorism. And we found what, nothing just those nightwalkers. Then I met you and take you here by the firecracker signal I send".

"So you signalled me. Well, you had very bad days isn't it ? ".

"Ya. But now its good. Only good not much of it", he said and we laughed.

Suddenly we heard a blaring of siren. The UV Lights switch on. I'm sure that it was not a good sign. We looked at each other and immediately went downstairs.
