Ersel felt hurt after hearing that Lino hates the former. He felt as if something was crushing his heart that he almost began to cry. He also knew that it was hard to explain himself to his childhood best friend. For a moment, he found himself at loss for words.
Then Ersel broke his eye contact with Lino and thought, [What should I say? Even if I say something, I won’t be able to say any good excuse!]
After waiting for Ersel’s answer for a few moments, Lino declared angrily, “Well, what now, Ersel? Say something!”
While trembling, Ersel looked directly at Lino’s eyes again and said, “Lino, I-I’m sorry. I’m really sorry for not leaving you a letter back then. I most probably forgot it because I was so sad about leaving you.”
Lino looked at Ersel’s sad eyes for a few moments and thought, [What he just said is sincere, but still…]
