Two boys, Ersel and Lino, were childhood best friends for three years. One day, while Lino went to visit his grandparents with his parents for several days, Ersel suddenly goes to Manila with his parents without even leaving a word or letter, making the former sad and angry. Both Lino and Ersel did not come to the practice of the Soul Chorale due to the argument that they had with each other. This led to Aaron asking Van about what happened to them, with the latter saying that both of them had to attend to some urgent matters. 


“So, what did Aaron say?” Ersel asked the next day before their first class started. Both he and Van were talking just outside the classroom. 


“Aaron wanted both of you to explain yourselves to him in a written letter,” Van replied. “So both you and Lino need to think of your own good excuses.” 


“Okay. I will. But...I wonder what I should write,” Ersel answered while also trying to think of a good excuse. 


“Maybe just say that you had to attend to some important family matters,” Van suggested 


“Okay, I’ll do that. Thanks, Van,” Ersel answered gratefully. 


“You’re welcome, man. Anyway, would you be able to attend later?” Van inquired while smiling gently.
