When the elevator dings at the 7th floor I take in a deep breath, I've seen best Jeanist on TV before and I get the feeling he's a man who very much prefers his employees to be as professional as possible at all times. I mean that's ok, it is expected in a job in PR, but I still feel nervous. I didn't expect to meet him at all, I figured someone much lower on the totem pole would be running these interviews. Red Riot gives me a reassuring smile which I return to him as he knocks on the office door. "Who is it?" A voice comes from inside "Red Riot sir, I have someone I think you may be interested in speaking with about DynaMight." There is silence on the other side of the door, my heart is pounding hard enough I'm certain the whole building can hear it. When the door swings open the tall blonde man surveys me closely. "You're the American girl from Stanford." How the hell did he know that "Yes sir, L/N F/N. I'm honored to meet you." I bow to him as I speak feeling his eyes still on me, judging me. "You came all this way and you couldn't find something better to wear than whatever this travesty is?" I stand to look him in the eye. "I do apologize for my appearance. I'm not as familiar with Japanese fashion as I would like to be, additionally I prefer to wait until I secure employment to purchase a new wardrobe so I may customize to the theme of my employer." He continues to survey me for a moment before moving out of the way motioning for me to enter his office.
"Red Riot, join us won't you?" I don't hear him answer only see him enter the office leaning himself against a filing cabinet. "Please have a seat Miss L/N" Best Jeanist beckons me to a seat in front of his desk while he sits behind it. "Tell me the boring professional things about yourself that are standard in these situations." I take a deep breathe attempting to calm my nerves. "Well sir, I became interested in working in hero PR when I was fourteen after a speaker in the field came to our school. It sounded like just the kind of career that I wanted something I could do anywhere in the world, hundreds of client possibilities, and plenty to do. I rather hate being bored and stuck in a rut. My time at Stanford further concreated my desire to enter the field as I learned more of what all goes on behind the camera in the world of heroes. I myself have no quirk, but in this field I can at least uplift a great hero. I've dreamt of Japan since I was a kid, reruns of Sailor Moon capturing my attention leading me to learn as much as I can, deciding to learn the language. I've been saving up since I was eleven years old. I graduated third in my class from Stanford and was voted best intern at Electroplant"
"What all caught your eye about the advert for this position?"
I swallow hard deciding to be fully honest. "I started my search by looking for entry level positions, when the ad stated a preference for a fresh graduate I was intrigued, seeing the benefits, pay and location were bonuses."
He nods "What if you weren't in Tokyo often, instead in Musutafu?"
"That wouldn't be a problem sir."
"Red Riot told you who you would be working with, what do you think of him?"
"I'm afraid I haven't heard of DynaMight sir, Red Riot tells me he can be difficult at times abrasive."
"Cute little girl such as yourself, aren't you afraid to work so closely with such a man?"
"Not at all."
"How do you feel about this color scheme." His tone indicates he himself hates it as he hands me a sample card of a hero costume. It's mostly black with burnt orange and dark green accents.
"I'm sure I could find a way to coordinate my outfits to represent DynaMight"
"I have to tell you I feel you're being a little foolish in pursuing this position." My heart sinks as he pauses my face determined to not give up. "That being said I think foolishness is exactly what is going to be needed in this case. Even know your gaze tells me how dead set you are on proving yourself so I'm willing to give you a chance. DynaMight is at this time still an employee here at the Genius Group, however in six months' time he will be opening his own agency in the city he grew up in, Musutafu. I'm sure you're familiar with it, that's where UA is located after all. Your contract will be with me not DynaMight you are my employee not his. When he opens his agency you will still be my employee and still assigned to him as this is what he and I agreed on. He didn't want a PR rep, it took a lot of convincing. Even now he's refused to come into the office today staying out on patrol instead, which by the way is not his strong suit. I've been his mentor since his first year at UA so I want to see him succeed. I hear you Americans can be thick skinned so who knows perhaps this will work out after all. I realize you'll need time to move so you have one week. I'll give my realtor your info she can help you find a place. Be here next Monday at 8 AM ready to meet your new client."
