Blow Up

Bakugos POV

I toss the note to my desk when I hear a knock at my office door. "Hey buddy, ready to get out of here?" Kirishima is a very consistent person, no matter what else is going on or how I yell at him he's still there with that stupid smile on his face acting like I didn't just go full ape shit on him. I wish L/N were as forgiving as him. Three days she's been avoiding me, not that I can blame her, she still left this note for me on my desk the other day though, I keep looking at it, her tiny handwriting and the way she signed it. I want things to go back to how they were, but I don't know how. Usually jerking off calms me down then I go near the person talk about something else and we just forget it, but not this time. She won't let me anywhere near her, even the thought of trying to apologize like the shrink suggested seems impossible. Still, I can't blame her. "Yeah lets go." when we walk past her desk she isn't sitting in it and Kirishima gives no indication if he spoke with her or not. Once we get out onto the street he decides to talk to me, knowing I have to try to keep calm. "So you wanna maybe tell me what happened with Y/N?" Fucking being familiar again "Don't call her that it's L/N, she isn't your friend." He ignores me like always, I clench my fist and bite my tongue. "We got into an argument a few days ago in the car about me not answering things sometimes, I basically called her a slut, she didn't speak to me the rest of the time, then in my office she decided to bring it up again." He side eyes me and I get the feeling he knows the rest already. "So why did you throw a blast at her man? You know she's quirkless and has no training." Tch, no training my ass. "Those reflexes suggest she has some kind of fucking training."

After waiting for Kirishima to finish taking pictures with a bunch of kids we ran into and signing things we get back to patrol. "So why did you do it?" I swear they are gaining up on me "I didn't mean to. I was so caught up in the argument, I hadn't noticed how sweaty I got, I moved and a blast just came out, I haven't lost control over my quirk since I was 10." He nods not saying anything else, accident or not nearly blasting a girl that just wanted me to answer a question about some tea was fucked up, I'm a shit person. "Have you apologized?" I laugh at the absurdness of his question "I can't get near enough to her for that." He shakes his head looking down at his feet before yelling back a hello at a fan. "Dude no, she's probably a little scared, you can't just approach her for a conversation. You need to send an apology letter or ask someone to help you communicate with her. I can do it when we get back if you want." Of course he wants to help, be the big man saving the day while I look like the villain again. Fuck my life. "Yeah, ok thanks dude." The remaining three hours spent on patrol are pretty boring, being stopped by Kirishimas fans probably the least monotonous thing about it. Busted up a couple of almost fights. That kind of thing When we finally get back to the building I start to feel nervous, how the hell do you even apologize to someone you almost killed by accident anyway? We pass her desk and she averts her gaze just as she's done the last three days if I happen to see her at her desk at all. "Ok you wait here, I'll go and get her." I make sure to take off what I can of my hero costume and turn up the A/C unit in the office so we don't have a repeat.

Y/Ns POV

"Hey Y/N, so um Bakugo would really like to apologize to you and he asked me to be there to help you feel a little more at ease." Is that what he thinks? That I'm afraid of him. I mean I was for about thirty seconds, it was pretty obvious from the look on his face that it was an accident. "Um Ok, thanks Red." He gives me a gentle push at the shoulder "Kirishima remember? And you could have called me with this you know." He looks at me with puppy eyes and I resist the urge to hug and protect the unbreakable man. "Bakugo wouldn't like it if I called you by your legal name or on the phone." His face drops and he says something under his breath as we move towards the office door where I knock with confidence. "Come in." He calls, Red opening the door before I have a chance to touch the handle, gesturing for me to walk through first. He's removed all the accessories of his costume except his belt and the A/C is blasting, guess he doesn't want another sweat build up. He looks at me pain behind his eyes and I feel bad that he's had the wrong impression. "You don't have to apologize Bakugo, I know you didn't mean to and I'm not afraid of you. I've been avoiding you because Jeanist thought it best I give you some space for a couple of weeks. And for the record I'm ok with you being different, I never got to tell you that that day. I just felt the need to understand why you sometimes don't answer simple questions so I could know what to look for when observing you in an interview as to act accordingly. I should have just said so." He stands staring at me tears falling from his face. "I could have killed you." He pulls at his shirt near his heart and I cross a line I told myself I wouldn't. When I reach out and grab his hand away from his shirt before hugging him his face is pure shock. I hug him close and after a moment he wraps his arms around me dropping his head on top of mine. "Don't blame yourself for mistakes, you're human. Everyone makes mistakes, instead own up to them and accept any consequences that may arise. In this case there is no need for them. I'm fine. My time in dance class as a kid gave me flexibility and decent reaction times." He sobs a moment hugging me a little closer and I hear Red leave the room.
