Jambel city

The city was surrounded by a five meters high stone wall and wide enough for two armed men to walk side by side atop of it, coming closer to the city gates he saw a queue forming at front, merchant caravans and travelers crowded as they waited by checking the documents and releasing the pass to enter the city.

He had already been informed of this and ignored the crowd heading for where the soldiers were standing guard at the gates.

"Stop! To enter the city of Jambel, travelers must join the queue like the others" One of the soldiers spoke out loud, attracting glances at him.

Nico was still wearing the cloak and wanted to keep his identity confidential, so he just removed the five-star bronze mercenary badge from the ring and showed it to him. The soldier did not change his expression when he saw the object as if it were something common around here, so he promptly apologized in a casual gesture and pointed to a reserved room in which he would check the necessary documents.

Inside the room was another soldier, without armor and wearing clothes more suited to office matters. "Sorry about the scene outside." He said. "Generally mercenaries walk around and group and are easily recognized with their medals attached to their clothes, so we thought you were just another traveler who didn't know about the rules."

Nicola nodded before receiving the questionnaire and answering the asks, as he had already been certified by the guild, none of this was more than the necessary paperwork, after all the guild would guarantee access to all cities where there was a branch of the organization.

Inside the walls he was able to see the city itself for the first time, much better than the cities and villages he passed through, even the houses in the city's slums were built in stone and to a much higher standard than in the city of Opus.

The quality of refinement and urban organization left his old city behind by far away. It was mostly populated by humans, but he could see few people of other races emerging from the crowd, they were short dwarfs, gray-skinned halflings, cat and wolf bestials clans and some other less prominent races.
