Major necromancy

"Well that's a good name too." Nicola said not caring too much. He had plans to recreate his daggers but the materials had yet to be found, he had received a promise from the divine craftsman when he completed his mission, so there was no need to modify them yet. Maybe only when he reached the gold level would he do something like that.

Seeing Gin's staff, a memory flashed in Nicola's mind. A long time ago he had taken the body of a dead arachne from the cemetery which Tuatha was guardian and had not yet used the major necromancy to revive it. He wanted to do this with the help of the magic tower AIs, but they would take some time to fully restore, so he decided to do it himself.

He carried out his experiments inside the tower, the arachne's corpse was lying on the ground, its black body, immobile and intact, gave off an air of dark power, it would be easy to soak the body with this type of mana, the difficulty would be to create the core that the undead possessed.

Nicola slowly sent the dark mana into her dead body, afraid that the rush might make the dark energy break the body but everything went as expected, when the corpse was filled completely with dark energy, the limbs of the body began to spasming, the spider's legs creaked as it moved, twitching like a dead spider would.

What differentiated minor necromancy from major necromancy was the second step. Creating your mark on a lesser undead was just a matter of using the light element outside the magical core created, leaving your mark there exposed. While to create a greater undead the imprint within the core should be created, making light and shadow interact differently, giving the undead freedom to think and act, except against its master. Greater undead were like children who should be taught again to act, behave and above everything, feed.

Nicola injected his own light mana into the arachne's body, creating the imprint within the core that kept the corpse moving. The core became stable after that, causing all body movement to suddenly stop. Then Nicola listened.

[Congratulations! The host has just created a greater undead.]

[Skill unlocked, major necromancy.]

[The host has just created a vampire subspecies - arachne race.]

"Hmmm it seems to me that when creating a greater undead, one should be aware of the type of death the corpse suffered, as this can transform it into different types of undead." Nicola spoke to himself as he watched the woman come to life.

Her body took on a lighter hue like that of vampires, making a beautiful mix of black and white turning to gray. Her spider legs, which still held the glossy black exoskeleton, moved to gain stability on the ground, as she stood upright, her height surpassing Nicola.

She acted like a newborn child looking around to identify things, as if she didn't know any of what was in front of her. "Can you speak?" Nicola asked and received a confused and thoughtful look in return.

"I don't think so. All right, I read that newborn vampires need to feed on blood until they get their impulses under control." He said and took from his space ring a newly dead magical beast carcass.

It didn't take the arachne long to understand that it was food and attacked the dead body on the ground. It released a web from its arachnid abdomen and wrapped the entire corpse, leaving the prey fully coiled, just like a spider would do in nature to then sink its fangs and suck all the blood that was inside the animal.

Being a master of the greater undead was no different from possessing demon servants. They possessed intellectual independence and took care of their own things while not being ordered about. Nicola ordered her not to attack anything inside the tower and stopped her of attacking her companions as well, ensuring everyone's safety.

It would take some time for the vampire-arachne to develop enough intelligence to speak and act normally, but Nicola would teach well. He named her Fibula, the name of a bone that is part of the leg set, he thought it was quite ideal for someone with as many legs as she was.
