Chapter Twenty five

KELECHI'S POV

In the history of this family, we have never missed Christmas Eve. It was more of a family tradition to always attend both Christmas Eve and the main mass for Christmas in the morning.

It was evening. We were having dinner. The entire family was present at the dining room. Mama and mummy Meso had prepared fufu and egusi soup. Trust me, I was too busy with the food. So was Ben. But that was the moment Ify, the broadcaster decided to tell uncle Joe (her dad) about what happened in the recent episode of Sofia the first.

" I like Princess Amber's gown. It's better than Sofia's own. Daddy did you buy my crown?" Ify wanted to look like a princess, with the crown and all for Christmas. She was always trying to dress like a princess ever since she started watching Sofia the first.

"Yes, princess. I got your crown. Tomorrow, you'll be looking like the princess that you are." Uncle Joe doted on Ify. He reached out to pinch her cheeks playfully.

"Daddy have you seen my Christmas hair? It is like princess Sofia's hair." Ify was so energetic and ready to talk about Sofia. She flipped her hair to emphasize her point. Mind you, she was wearing braids. But the braids had curls at the tip to make it a bit similar to princess Sofia's hair.

"Ify! Table manners!" Her mum said sternly.

Mummy Meso was more of a disciplinarian. While her husband was too easygoing with their children. She liked things to be in order. She often wondered why Ify was not reserved like her sister, Meso.

Just when everywhere seemed peaceful, Gozie started his baby tantrums, crying for no reason. He literally cried with no tears in his eyes. I personally thought he did it intentionally to have his parents' attention.

"Gozie bobo, nwa mummia, poko poko nwa, yoko yoko nwa, my baby o, prince...." Mama stood up from her seat and gently carried Gozie, showering pet names on him, rocking him in her arms. Mama knew exactly why he was crying. After all, she raised three men.

Mummy Meso was glad mama carried him away. As much as she loved her son, she wanted her breathing space.

"Aww!" Aunty Carol exclaimed looking at how Gozie's face brightened. He had started laughing. "He is so adorable. I hope my Son will be adorable too." She looked at her protruding belly, smiling. "I can't wait for our son to come." She looked at Uncle Sam. "Ben, are you not excited to see your baby brother?"

   Suddenly, everyone paused.

Ben nodded. That was the oddest thing I had seen that day. Ben hated Aunty Carol normally. Her getting pregnant with his father's child made her a certified enemy.

Everyone knew this. His dad eyes widened in shock. He had been hoping his son would come around. Seeing this suddenly brightened his mood. He sure looked happy.

"Mama, thank you! Daddy thank you...." Ben proceeded to thanking every elder in the room as per custom. When he thanked Aunty Carol too, everyone paused and looked at him. We were not sure if we heard right until Aunty Carol replied him.

Something was up. I was sure of it.
