Chapter 45

Thomas didn't want to enroll in the academy anymore. He was disgusted at the Belles. Thus, Sophia's calculative mind came into play. She had always wished to make some sort of a connection with the Belles. Her eyes glinted with greed. She started to plot her masterplan, one that would change their lives forever.

Thomas was easily accepted. His skills were highly appreciated. But there was only one thing keeping him there, his thirst for revenge. Sophia had easily convinced him that if they joined forces, they would easily conquer the Belles. He wanted to avenge his father one way or other. Most importantly, he would get to be in touch with his Canny.

His cheeks tainted Pink at the thought. What if one day, his Mistress got so impressed with him that she decided to marry the lovers? What if in a small church, they said vows and kissed? What if one day, she blessed him with little bundles of joy? He wanted a girl. He giggled, acting rather girlish with the thoughts.

He didn't know why but he caught Lyanna's eye one day. She was mesmerised by his talent. In a fortnight, he was sent a letter in a Lavender envelope. The Belles had asked him to move to their mansion and stay there as a personal artist. Thomas didn't even know such a profession existed. He didn't have the power to deny and all secret meetings with Sophia were cut off. He was now a tool of the Belles. A dangerous one though. But they continued to send each other secret letters. Carina seemed a distant memory as time passed. He was the eye candy of the daughter of the Belles now.

Mrs. Belle was a political woman. She decided to marry her daughter to a commoner, to gain the trust of the townfolk. Thomas was a brilliant choice. The shy, well spoken boy was taken aback when she gave the proposal. After debating with himself in mind and Sophia in ink, he said yes. His life turned around after that. He got great publicity. He taught himself manners. He started to like the company of his new wife, Cecilia. He decided to forgive the Belles. He turned his back on Sophia and pledged, never to see Carina again. He didn't know that escaping your past isn't possible.
