Chapter 51

Cecilia stirred in her sleep as the harsh sunlight came in the chamber. She slowly sat up, her expression solemn and heart full of unshed tears.

"Good morning", Thomas gently greeted from the window. It felt like a arrow to her heart. She looked as if she had been destroyed and there he was, looking unbothered. She chose silence. She was hurting and her husband was oblivious. If that was to continue on, she would gladly allow it.

" I brought tea." He neared the bedside table, gently caressing the kettle.

"Chamomile, your favorite." Cecilia continued her staring contest with the window.

"I know you're angry. You have every right to be Lia. But believe me, I didn't mean to hurt you. I could never do that." He grabbed her wrist.

"I don't want to hear your excuses. You can leave. I would like to spend the day alone." Cecilia didn't even spare him a glance. Thomas sighed.

"As you wish love. I'll be nearby. Don't hesitate to call me." He carefully exited the gloomy chamber, eyes fixed on the ground, heart full of guilt. He needed to take care of her. He was ruining everything. And for what? Carina? He didn't even love her.

Then? Why did he feel like giving everything up? He leaned against a pillar in the hall. The sky was starting to cloud. His head was still in a tangled mess. What were the Belles going to do with Carina? Who was the true murderer? What did he want from Carina?

"Tommy ?" He heard an almost inaudible voice speak. Carina was in tears, hands gripping onto the fabric of her dress for dear life.

"What's the matter? Are you alright?" He panicked.

"I-I... I need you", she wailed loudly as the first few sour drops of rain started to fall.

"Hush now", Thomas gently grabbed her shoulders. It had been forever since he had last touched her. But that didn't matter now.

"It was Nathan", she whimpered helplessly.

"He was the murderer..." It struck Thomas like lightning. But before he could ask anything, a loud crash was heard outside.
