It's A Writer Thing

Nathan was struck by the sudden thought as they continued walking through the store and Sierra questioned some of his grocery purchases that they must look like a married couple to other shoppers. That was really weird—he shook his head in an attempt to physically dispel something so ridiculous.

They could barely be considered friends. He had only brought her with him because she asked and offered him cookies in exchange. Who could turn that down?

He snapped out of his thoughts as soon as he heard a crash nearby. Whipping his head around, he saw that a middle-aged man had collapsed and happened to hit a shelf so a bunch of cans fell with him. People tried to help him but no one knew CPR when the man stopped breathing.

When everything reset Nathan sighed. Of course something like this had to happen when he was with Sierra. He would be less self-conscious about jumping in and doing it himself if she wasn't here. But duty called.
