You Aren't A Monster

Adrian headed out to the park he agreed to meet Nathan at and found him slumped over on a park bench. The guy's dark circles were worse than both Adrian's and May's combined and what was visible of his arms and legs poking out of his sleeves and cargo shorts was definitely burned.

"What on earth happened to you, man?" he asked in disbelief.

Nathan let out a hollow laugh. "I got crushed by a burning shelf. My back was cut pretty badly but not enough to cause damage to my spine but I did break a rib and had some internal bleeding as a result. And, as you can see, I got burned pretty badly. At least the fire didn't get my face."

"Are you sure you should be up and walking?!"

"I took a nap before I came here. I'm going to go back to sleep as soon as we're done, drive home in the morning, then sleep some more. Don't worry about me."

If anyone needed to be worried about, it was this guy. "…has anyone been taking care of you after getting hurt?"
