Chapter 2: Meeting my parents

The rest of the week flies by and before I know it it's Friday.

I get out of bed and squeal with excitement. I quickly run to the bathroom and get ready for the day. When I'm ready to go I head downstairs to meet Beth outside, grabbing a granola bar and the bowl of strawberries my mom left me on the table.

Beth pulls up as I'm locking the front door and I hop into the back seat.

"Hey guys," I say, reaching between the seats to give them both a kiss on the cheek.

"Hey boo. Are you excited for tonight," Ariel asks me.

"You know it," I say, giving her a wink. I put my seatbelt on and Beth turns around and heads down my long driveway.

We jam along to Beth's playlist until we get to school. We got out and head to the front doors with our arms linked together. As we got closer, we could see the boys waiting for us, which they've been doing the whole week.

"Wow, four days in a row. Is this the new norm," Ariel teases as we approach them.

"Who knows, maybe it is. Do you want it to be," Brian teases back.

Ariel bites her lip, which doesn't go unnoticed by Brian, and says, "Maybe I do."

I roll my eyes and walk up to Danny. He pulls me into a hug, which I gladly welcome. When he pulls away he asks, "You ready for our date tonight?"

I give him a big smile and nod my head.

"Good because I can't wait," he says giving a big dimpled smile, making me blush at how cute he is.

He walks with me to my locker, making jokes the whole time.

I put my books in my bag and go to put the strap on my shoulder but he stops me.

"I'll get that for you," he says slinging it over his shoulder.

"Wow, I guess chivalry isn't dead," I laugh, giving him a thankful smile.

"My parents raised me to be a gentleman," he tells me giving me a wink at the end that makes me blush a light red.

The others come over after grabbing their stuff from their lockers and we all walk down the hall together. Beth and Brian are arguing over something so dumb.

"I get the big TV tonight because I'm the favorite," Beth yells at him.

"No you're not and I get it tonight because I'm older," he yells back.

"By three freaking minutes," she shouts, waving her hands around like a crazy person, almost hitting some poor freshman boy. He ducks out of the way in time and quickly walks away, Beth yelling sorry after him.

"Guys, it's not that serious. We can share the TV," Ariel tells them.

They glare at each other before finally saying, "Fine," at the same time.

I roll my eyes at them while Danny and Jerrico just laugh. We all reach the middle of where we split to go to our classes. The girls and I do a three-way hug while fake crying.

"I'm gonna miss y'all so much," Ariel fake wales.

"Bro, are we sure we want to date them," I hear Brian say to the other guys. I roll my eyes and we pull away from each other, Beth rewarding him with the bird.

He mocks hurt and Ariel laughs pulling Beth across the hall to their class. Danny and I walk into our class and sit through Mr. Granger drone on for 55 minutes.

-----------------------------------------------------------

The day went by surprisingly fast and soon we're all walking out together.

"I'll see you later," I say giving a smile to Danny.

"See you later," he grabs my hand, placing a kiss on the back of it, making me blush a deep red.

He winks and walks over to the guys, who are waiting at Jerrico's car for him.

Beth drives us to my house and they come in to help me get ready for my date with Danny tonight.

I'm currently in my closet freaking out because I don't know what to wear. Ariel is spinning around in my desk chair, while Beth hangs over my bed upside down looking at her phone. I just stare at them until they finally look up, feeling my glare on them.

"You guys are useless! You're supposed to be helping me get ready for my date," I whine at them.

Beth rolls her eyes and gets up, falling over instantly from staying in the same position for so long. Ariel and I laugh at her and my mom comes in, having heard the loud thump Beth made when she fell.

"Everything okay in here," mom asks, raising her eyebrow at Beth, who is sprawled out on the floor.

"No, nothing is okay," I tell her, walking over and putting my arms around her. "I have a date tonight and they're being no help whatsoever."

My mom laughs at my pouty face and comes in to see if she can help.

"I'll help you, my big baby," she says, pinching my cheeks.

I swat her hands away and the girls laugh, coming over to finally help out.

We were able to put something together in ten minutes.

"Wow, look what can be accomplished with help," I say sarcastically.

They roll their eyes while mom laughs at me, heading to the door.

We hear the doorbell and I stare at them with wide eyes before freaking out.

"Oh my God, he's here! How does it look? Do I look okay," I shout at them while running around for no reason at all.

Ariel grabs me and slaps me across the face.

"Get it together woman! You look great," she tells me.

Beth just stands there, looking amused by the situation. I glare at her and take a few deep breaths to calm myself down.

"You got this girl," Beth tells me. They pull me into a hug and walk with me down the stairs. What I see when we reach the living room brings a horrified look to my face.

My mom is sitting next to Danny on the big couch, talking happily about something, while Danny sits there looking like he's about to pass out. My dad is sitting across from them in the love seat with a gun sitting on his knee pointed in Danny's direction.

"Dad! What's wrong with you," I yell out running over to him and taking the gun from him, knowing he will actually shoot him.

Mom looks up startled, not having realized what her husband had been doing.

"Gregory, stop trying to scare the poor boy away! I'm so sorry honey. Why didn't you tell me my husband was being an idiot," she turns to Danny after yelling at my dad.

"I'm just showing him what will be waiting for him if he steps out of line with my daughter," he says nonchalantly.

I roll my eyes at him and put the gun back in the safe, out of reach from my dad.

I walk over to Danny with an apologetic look on my face.

"I'm so sorry about him," I tell him grabbing his hand and pulling him to the front door.

"Be home before nine Anna," I hear dad yell after me.

"It's eight o'clock dad and we haven't even left! Not to mention I'm going to Beth's after for a sleepover," I yelled back at him, quickly closing the door behind us.

Beth is pulling out as we walk to Danny's car and I give them a wave. Once we were safely inside Danny let out a deep breath.

"I am so sorry about that," I tell him, grabbing his hand and squeezing it.

"I thought I was gonna die back there," he says with a shaky laugh.

"It's okay, I'll protect you," I tell him while kissing him on the cheek.

That seems to get him to loosen up and he looks over my outfit, which consists of a baby blue dress that goes down to my knees with a white jacket on top and some white converse. My hair is in a braid that goes over my shoulder and my makeup consists of nude eyeshadow and matte lipstick that was also nude colored.

"You look great," he tells me, sounding breathless and making me blush.

"Thank you. You don't look too bad yourself," I say back.

He has on a white t-shirt with a black denim jacket on top, some black ripped skinny jeans, and some black and white Adidas. His hair looks like he's been running his fingers through it and it is a mess but in a sexy kind of way.

He smirks at me having caught me staring at him and asks if I'm ready to go. I give him a nod after putting my seatbelt on, because safety first, and he pulls off.
