I Don't Believe You!

Knock knock knock—

Noah arrived obliviously at Lucas' hotel room.

"What's wrong? Why did you call me here all of a sudden?" he asked as he walked in.

Lucas had originally given him the day off because he wanted a day to rest at the hotel. Why did he suddenly call? Was there a change of plans?

But when Noah walked in and saw that Lucas wasn't alone, he furrowed his brows. Especially when he saw Maya. What was she doing there? Didn't she say that they had an argument and they wouldn't be seeing each other again? Did she lie to him?

He felt a little hurt...

"Noah, Miss Yeung told me something really interesting about you..." Lucas started. He was now dressed in a comfortable grey sweater and blue jeans.

Noah glanced at Maya and she looked away guiltily. Deep down, she felt as though she had betrayed him, but then again...he had lied to her first...

[You did the right thing, Maya] she reassured herself.

Gathering her courage, she confessed, "Noah, I told Lucas about your relationship with Nova... She's been sending him threatening messages so I thought he deserved to know..."

Noah opened his eyes wide in shock. For 4 years, he had kept his identity completely a secret. Who knew this woman would expose him; the one woman that he actually felt a little interested in. However, he was also glad that Maya was safe. Perhaps, she was so innocent that she had been misled into believing Lucas... He couldn't blame her. The man was sneaky and persuasive.

[She must be falling into his trap!]

Turning to Lucas, he said, "I know what you've been doing, Lucas. You won't be able to get away with it. Nova told me everything about you. 'Delilah' might believe you because she's innocent, but I know you're just weaving a web of lies to get her on your side so you can hurt her later."

Lucas slammed his hands on the coffee table as he sat down and yelled, "Ridiculous! You lied about your sister and you even gave Miss Yeung the wrong details for the hospital. How can you point the finger at me?"

Noah's eyes darted a little. "I gave 'Delilah' the wrong details? I must have looked up the wrong number..." he said as he looked down.

Lucas glared at Noah. Not only was he angry that the man had lied to him for so many years, but he was also annoyed that Noah kept calling her by her first name like they were really close. Even he still called her Miss Yeung politely.

At that moment, Maya stood up and shook her head with disappointment, "You deliberately lied to me Noah... I called that number this morning. Someone actually picked up; a woman. Who was that woman? She even played along and answered my questions. If I hadn't come to speak to Lucas, I would have believed your lies and left Vegas without ever knowing the truth..."

Lucas looked at Maya with slight surprise. Was she actually planning to leave Vegas? He knew, for her safety, it was the best choice, but it still disappointed him a little to hear her confirm it.

Noah sighed and shook his head. "I don't know what you're talking about..."

"Noah...you told me you saw your sister three weeks ago..." Maya said gently, hoping that the man would finally tell the truth. "But according to Lucas and Ryan, your sister escaped from Lakeside Angels Psychiatric Hospital last year..."

Noah's eyes opened wide in surprise. "I...I only said that because I didn't want to sound like a horrible brother... I haven't actually contacted her in over a year..."

Lucas furrowed his brows, "Enough with your lies! Where's Nova right now? You must know where she is. The police have been searching an entire year for her! She is suspected of murder. If you don't tell us where she is, then you will be obstructing justice and considered an accomplice."

Noah shook his head and stuttered innocently, "I...I really have no idea..."

"Then who was the woman on the phone that spoke to Maya?" Lucas asked again. Noah had not answered this question yet.

"I...I don't know. Maybe it was someone that was playing a prank on you. Maybe she saw that you had rung the wrong number and decided to play along for fun... I don't know..." he said as he shook his head harder.

Ryan began to grow impatient. Grabbing the man by the shoulders, he asked threateningly, "Are you sure you haven't seen Nova in over a year? You're her only relative, she must have come to look for you..."

At that moment, Noah suddenly stopped shaking and the gaze in his eyes changed slightly. He looked firmly into Ryan's eyes and said, "I failed my sister... I told her I'd get revenge for her; that I'd uncover Lucas Lee's secrets and have him arrested. But even after 4 years, I achieved nothing. Why would she come to look for me? For all I know, she probably lost faith in me as a brother..."

Maya looked at Noah, unsure whether to believe him or not. If this man was telling the truth...then they had hit a dead end again...

Worst of all...Nova was still out there, and no one knew where she was, or what she had planned...

Just as she thought this, a voice rang through the air, "I don't believe you!"

It was Lucas.

Maya watched as the man picked up his phone without hesitation and dialed a number. "Officer Grant, we found Nova's brother and a suspicious phone number. Can you trace it? I suspect it may lead to Nova..."

Noah snuck a glance at the man and furrowed his brows...
