Melinda the maid

wavy brown hair, dark eyes and a straight nose told everyone that she was of poor origin, but because she started work early, at 20 she was the king's most trusted royal maid and servant.

Moli was the name of the maid who served Arthur IV the little prince of Castile.

Although it was stressful to spend the day running and guinea pigs for pranks, she was proud to take care of what she believed to be the next king of her lands.

She knew that Arthur only made them because he was feeling alone and pressured. Over the years, Moli had seen all sides of the boy and knew him as an open book.

On the outside he tried to look like a strong and noble boy, but he always ended up doing what his heart told him to do.

Often after being scolded he would run away somewhere, and when no one was looking, he would burst into tears.

When it was time to study he pretended to understand the lessons and write the works, but all the teachers knew that he had not even memorized the alphabet properly.

Moli confronted Arthur, and always stood by him for when he needed his help. In the mornings while he was undergoing a strict training, she shouted encouragement and brought him treats. She also started to help him with his studies and in the afternoon when she was free she sacrificed a little of her own time to play with him.

In the end Moli was not the only one he listened to and obeyed, but the only one he smiled at.

Days were going well, until on a hot summer day Arthur who was still sleepy in the morning was severely repressed by the royal guard for being distracted during training. Then the teachers made the decision to double their hours of study to increase the productivity of their studies.

He held on, stood firm and tried to make up for his mistakes by helping the cooks make dinner. For pure distraction he ended up exchanging salt for sugar while preparing the soup that would be served for dinner. The cooks, thinking that this was one more of their games, had a fit of fury and went to complain to the king.

Moli did not expect this to become such a big thing, but around the time that Arthur's study period would have ended, Moli found him in the kitchen, but this time it was the servants who played a trick on him. Before she could do anything to change the situation that was obviously going in a disastrous direction, the little prince ran in tears for her without looking back.

- How can an adult behave like a child! Especially when that child is going to rule all of us in the future! - Mourned moli to the servants who still laughed at little Arthur's reaction.

"You really don't believe the king will make him king, do you?" It's just a brat somewhere with no lineage, we will probably have a popular election, don't you think? Asked one of the cooks.

- if you worry about your pocket, you can forget about it, you don't need to act all right with the Moli brat - added the other.

- Is that a reason? He is only a child and one of the brave I can say, if he continues under my wings, he can promise that he will be the best king these lands have ever seen! - The cooks shrank from Moli's words in shame.

- And bloodline? Do I have all my conquests, lineage? What matters is what you do, not what your ancestors did! Ha ... seriously. - Moli took a deep breath and continued her speech in a calmer tone.

- what you were thinking, sorry for the exaltation, but you know what sentimental your highness is, it will affect you for days. Better wrath after them, get on with your work - When Moli finished, he didn't even look back at the servants, simply headed in the direction the prince had left.

Soon one of the guards appeared in the sight of moli terrified by how much she screamed.

- Prince ... He ... ran away ... I tried ... he's too fast.

A little while later the shouted news spread to all the soldiers, making the whole castle panic.

The first to be blamed were the teachers for putting too much pressure on the boy, they passed the blame on to the guards who had scolded him, the guards in his defense, said it was the cooks who decided to go and complain to the king for something so small.

Moli exploded with rage when she found herself in such a situation, were they really adults who blamed each other? For the first time Moli used her position as chief maid and royal maid to organize all the hindered soldiers in a search party.

Moli participated in the first groups, but after doing this for five hours, she returned to the castle, forced by the guards concerned about her physical and mental condition.

After the sun went down, the castle panicked again at the possibility that the heir to the throne had died.

Despairing Moli left with the last search party of the day, the forest was dark and the guards tired to make matters worse. The action began to rain, the soldiers began to consider leaving when Moli heard a familiar sound under her breath, a cry of sadness that lamented the loneliness, something she heard every day, she ran towards the noise.

Although confused the guards followed her and when they reached a clearing with a large dead tree in the middle, they saw the pale blond boy holding a visibly poisonous, half-eaten mushroom.

The guards panicked, already weighing how to break the news to the king.

But Moli simply took the little boy in her arms and started to run her way back to the castle, the guards tried to stop her, but even though she was just a maid, she was extremely strong.

Upon arriving at the castle she immediately called the royal healer, and after leaving the boy in his arms, she passed out from tiredness and stress.

Moli woke up in the middle of the night in her room, looked after by the nurses. With the news that the boy was surprisingly well, she immediately went to Arthur's room to check on him. According to the doctor she was not poisoned and had passed out from fever. That same night while she was watching the sleeping boy, she heard the news that a new royal merchant was arriving at the castle with his son, older than the prince, behaved and kind.

Moli felt that a weight had been lifted from his shoulders, having another child in the castle would be good for Arthur. She relaxed by falling asleep beside the little prince.

The next day Moli made sure that Arthur apologized to each servant involved in the scare and the mischief and that they also apologized for the misunderstanding.

Despite the odds, the following days were just as she had imagined the little prince became so fond of the new boy that he spent all his free hours beside her, for convenience, Moli was assigned to look after the boy too.

Even though she now had double work, those were the happiest days of her life.

At least until that day arrived ...
