"Oh wow that's... that's great." Alex said rather unenthusiastically . Her mom beamed.

"I know! He said it was only for the week. But I have never been to Europe before, its so exciting!" She said as she cooked.

"Right" Alex said. Her heart hurt. Dan had offered to take her mom for a week to Europe. She, her sister and Andy had to stay together at home. It would give them time to 'bond'. She looked at the picture on the wall. Her dad and mom looked so happy. She and her sister were small. They were a perfect family. Were.

Her mom saw her wistful look and sighed.

"Look sweety. Your dad passing away... it... it was a lot to bear. I never thought I would fall in love again. Now, with Dan. I feel so happy. I know it may sound selfish but... "

Alex interrupted her,"no mom. It's not selfish. I'm glad you're happy. As long as you're happy. I'm happy."

Her mom smiled,"I love you Alexis"

"Love you too mom" she said while hugging her.

"Isn't this cheesy?" A voice came. Alex smiled at the girl who stood at the door of the room.

"Abby!" Alex exclaimed and ran to hug her. Abbeline smiled.

"Hey kiddo! It's been a long time since we met eh?" She said.

"You don't have time for your sister anymore. You're a college girl now. Now you're busy with your boyfriend Jake!"she mocked. Abby laughed.

"Is that so?" Abby laughed," well. Jake can wait. But the tickles can't! "

"No! I am too old for tickles! " Alex said before backing away.

"You will always be a kid to me. Now.. prepare for the tickles!! " she said before running after Alex.

Alex squealed and ran up the stairs. Soon her laughter could be heard. Their mom smiled. Maybe they were becoming a real family again? She looked at the framed picture of them and their dad.

They were the spitting image of him. Tears came to her eyes. Ever since his death when Alex was just ten. They had never been the same. Abby was older. She was seventeen at the time. She was so sad. But she stayed strong. Now. Normalcy had just entered their lives. They were moving on. Slowly but surely.
