the language of love

"Can you tell me everything later? " Loki asked running out behind her.

"Ok." she mouthed to Loki before leaving. He nodded. Her father was dead? Was this Dan character abusing her?

He had to find out. His curiosity would not let him be without gaining information. But that's all. He would find information and that's all. He wouldn't get more attached to her than that.

He got up as his legs were hurting from sitting for too long. He decided to walk around the campus. He had an hour before his class.

He walked by the library. His favorite place. He smiled as he opened the door and the smell of books greeted him. He went straight to the books he loved. Poetry.

He smiled as his fingers touched the hard rims of the books. His eyebrows suddenly furrowed as he noticed a book was missing. He had been reading it. It was an old poetry book on love. He looked around. Where was it?

"Then seek not sweet, the if, or why.

I love you now until I die."

Loki's breath hitched when he heard a familiar voice recite these beautiful words.

He looked around the aisles and found her. She was curled up in the corner with a smile on her face.

"For I must love because I live. And life... " she continued.

"Life in me is what you give" Loki ended. She looked up with a jerk.

"P.. professor.. I.. um" she stuttered.

" that is a beautiful poem" he said with a soft smile. She smiled and relaxed.

"I find that reading it out aloud increases the emotion" she said, "it is a beautiful poem"

He nodded and gulped. She looked pretty sitting there while the sunlight hit her hair. Her smile was radiant. She signaled him to sit near her. He hesitated for a split second before agreeing. He sat on the floor next to her.

"What's your favorite?" He asked referring to the poems. She looked thoughtful then got up and ran to the shelf. She returned with a small book.

"This is Ernest Hemingway" she said and opened the book, "Its my favorite."

They heard the door of the library open noisily. She looked at Loki who peeped to see who it was.

"Its the boy who you met earlier. I believe his name was.. Andy?" He said looking at her. All Color left her face.

"Professor. I know this may seem weird... ok it is weird. But I need him to not see me" she said frantically.

"Why?" He asked.

"I can't explain now! " she said as foot steps began to approach them. He looked at her and nodded.

"Tell me later" he said and got up. She nodded and squished herself into the corner. Loki walked over to the main aisle where Andy was.

"Can I help you?" He asked in a cold tone.

"You're the new professor right?" Andy asked.

Loki raised an eyebrow in response.

"Library is closed" Loki said. Andy looked around.

"I'm just looking for my.. sister" he said.

"No one is here" Loki said coldly.

"Ok.. cool then.. I.. I'll go" Andy said and walked away. When Loki returned to the girl she was still hiding.

"Is he gone?" She asked. He nodded. She heaved a sigh of relief.

"You said you'll explain later?" Loki said. She looked at her watch.

"Um. Not.. not now. Maybe evening. We'll meet up at the cafe. Is that ok?" She asked.

Loki's heart beat faster. She wanted to see him after school? Wait why was he so excited. He was behaving like a teenager now! He mentally slapped himself.

"I don't know if that's appropriate." He said placing a stone on his heart.

"Ok.. I guess.. but it is a really small cafe. and its far away. No one will know! We're just gonna talk." She Said.

"Yes ok" Loki said. His heart was leaping in joy.

"Ok. Professor see you later" she said and took her bag.

"Wait" Loki said. Whats your name? I never asked you"

"Its Alexis. Call me Alex" she smiled. He smiled as she left. His heart raced and his stomach felt like it was inside out. Was he getting butterflies? He was actually excited about this date! No its not a date. It's.. just.. talking. Right? He thought to himself. He felt like a teenager! And what's worse was... he liked it! What was this mortal doing to his heart?
