Welcome Back

ZAC

All I can hear is my breathing. The sound of the waves is quiet and I hear nothing else except my rugged breathing. I look at her in anticipation of some sort of movement or reaction in the hope that the antidote worked. Everything happens in slow motion.

It feels like I have been staring at her for hours just hoping for some sort of sign. I am looking for a glimmer of hope. Then I swear I see her eyelashes move and then I see her beautiful eyes.

Why is it that her eyes are now more beautiful than I remember? I can not help but take a deep breath of relief. Without realizing I put my thumb on her cheek and caress it while I am saying.

"Hey, you, welcome back"

I give her a smile that I hope she will never forget because I really wanted her to open her eyes and get better.
