After seeing the mail all the blood drained from my face, it's not like I am a bad student or something but I was not at all expecting a test all of a sudden.

Nervously I clicked on the link and the first question appeared on the screen.I started solving it carefully, I answered most of the questions by solving them but in my nervous state I randomly guessed answers for the questions I didn't know forgetting that there will be negative markings for wrong answers.

I closed my laptop with a breath of relief after completing the test and laid down on my cream-colored bed thinking I might have screwed up my only chance to work with my idol.

Later I went downstairs to see my dad sleeping soundly on the couch peacefully, a sad smile crept on my lips seeing him like that, he aged more than he should have with all the responsibilities he's been carrying since mom died..

He never made me feel like I am a burden to him or didn't show how hard it is for him to raise me alone. I know how much he has sacrificed to give me a good life.

"Now it's my turn now to take care of dad" i whispered slowly and covered him with a blanket and adjusted the pillow.

while I was drowning in my own thoughts Edward emerged from the kitchen with two cups of hot chocolate which I badly needed at the moment.

"What's with the sad face little monster? are you ok?" he asked handing me the cup of hot chocolate.

"I have just screwed up my only chance to work with my Idol," I told him taking a sip of hot chocolate and sighing sadly at which he frowned and turned away thinking deeply.

Edward is the most precious friend of mine in my small world, he is the son of dad's friend who passed away while serving in the military since then his mom and he became a family to us.

He was like a big brother to me, always protecting me and taking care of me since we were kids, he always knew how much I admire Christoper stone from my college days and how many times I have sent him my research papers and got rejected every time, Ed is the only person who's never discouraged me about working with Mr. Stone while other friends of mine advised me to give up.

Edward and I both sat on the swing in our backyard enjoying the sweet smell of roses as we used to in our school days and listening to birds chirping.

"so you are trying to get a place in Mr.stone's team huh.."Edward asked me suddenly in all seriousness.

"Yeah...you know how badly I want to get into his team but I don't know why I never succeed,i don't know how i did in the exam today, I have a strong feeling that I might not get selected" I said sighing in frustration and mentally scolding myself for lacking the skills.

Edward did not say anything but just held me closely patting my head slowly, it was his way of saying everything was going to be okay. He always understands my feelings and never bores me with a comforting speech.

He handed me my favorite coconut-flavored chocolate bar " Here ..i got you your favorite flavor, eat it..u will feel better and stop pulling a long face because u look like an ugly potato when you do" he said rubbing my red nose.

I smiled at his cute gesture and ate the chocolate, later the evening went by quickly with gossip about his colleagues and our common friend Jenny.

Feeling a little bit relieved after the chat with Edward I went to bed early that night but with a small nervous feeling about the exam result.
