Chapter 14 - Sweet Revenge

Elodie's P.O.V:

"No way it was a prank, the way Rayna was screaming like she saw dead bodies." I debated.

"You never know." Alora shrugged.

The palace was exquisite, filled with teens and teachers in their formal attire. There was some older youngsters too, not recognising them to be in out school. There were chandeliers, sparkling and steady in every part of the high ceiling, as high as the mountains. The atmosphere was filled with chitter-chatters, soft laughters, the noise of glasses placed on a hard surface, clicking of womens heels and some other commotion.

Pfft. I couldn't wait any longer. "Where the hell is Addilyn!" I spurted out.

"Girl calm down, we came a bit too early" Alora approved.

I was impatiently tapping my feet, waiting for Addilyn to come, I seriously needed some drink, not like I want to get myself drunk, just the simple drinks.

"OMG you girls, you took my breath away!"

I heard a voice behind us. I instantly turned out. My mouth was hanging, wide open. Addilyn was wearing a silver shimmering gown that flowed neatly down the floor. She was just wearing a floral necklace with a matched bracelet on her right hand.

"Dayum Addilyn is that you?" I questioned

"Shoot seriously, you look completely different Addy." Alora stated.

"Hehe, did I miss anything?" she inquired.

"Speaking of which did you meet anyone before us?" Alora briefed. I turned to Alora mouthing 'what?'. Alora raised her eyebrows not sure of what's happening.

"No..." Addilyn muttered. Just then I saw Josiah walking towards us, behind Addilyn. I wanted to smile so badly. Surprise surprise.

"Addilyn don't turn, don't turn!" i hushed.

"Girl what happened? Who's behind? Your making me scared." she responded with fear.

"Addilyn is that you?" Josiah asked her. Alora was now giggling. I slapped her arm softly, not hard enough to sting, which immediately made her to stop.

Addilyn turned around and the two love birds started chatting. Waiting no longer, me and Alora slowly backed away.

It's been we while we were in the palace. Me and Alora started interacting with a bunch of cute guys from the other school and Kaiden came too. After joking around my throat felt dry as a bone, so I pulled Alora away, giving up some random excuses to the cuties and went to the bar.

"Now what? why do you keep getting disturbed?" Alora was annoyed.

"Doesn't that big mouth of yours ever get tired for all that non-stop gossips." I boasted.

Alora beamed and ordered the bartender for a cocktail for both of us. I gulped the drink. Within seconds the glass that was filled with the sweet and dark orange coloured drink was now empty. I felt refreshed, feeling energised. I turned to Alora and I burst laughing.

Confused much, she asked me "what" boringly.

"Your...your lipstick is..is all smudged like someone kissed you" I breathed out the words, clutching my stomach still laughing.

She quickly covered her mouth and said "Imma head to the washroom". I held my hand and placed a lipstick in her hand. She smiled at me, which I'm sure she knew I couldn't see, but I saw her cheeks rising and her eyes slightly open. She headed to the washroom, walking carefully. Not a pro in walking with heels.

Alora's P.O.V.:

After checking my makeup, I exited the washroom. As I cheerily walked towards the main hall someone pricked me with a needle in the back of my neck. I tried screaming, but no words would come out of my mouth. I started getting weak at the knees, feeling giddy. Then I fell off, with a thud, when my eyes and body could no longer stay awake. The last thing I heard was a manly voice saying "Two more to go".

Elodie's P.O.V.:

"Addilyn!" I cried as soon as I spotted her sitting across the bar wiping her mouth with a tissue.

"Shh Elodie, softly, what happened?" she noticed and hushed.

"Alora....Alora....I haven't seen her since the lady in the mike started speaking. She said she was going to the washroom, but she never came back." I uttered, out of breathe.

"Elodie sit here, calm down, calm down. I'm sure she's ok. She must have returned home, her parents must have picked her." she snapped.

" But my dad picked both of us and was going to drop her too. Her parents were very busy with some meetings with her relatives." I babbled out all the information I had in my head.

"I've called and messaged her. It says she's out of reach." I added.

"Addilyn, will you dance with me?"

We both turned our heads and saw Josiah, giving out a hand. That was cute, so why disturb them. Perhaps Alora went outside for some fresh air. The crowd indeed was suffocating. 'Go, I'll take care', I mouthed and started walking away, out of the hall and towards the exit. As I was outside of the gigantic palace, I inspected every place my eyes landed on, searching for Alora.

After several minutes which felt like a decade, I could no longer withstand the heels I was wearing, so I slightly pulled the front part of my forest green silk gown up, and sat on the red carpeted staircase, front of the entrance of the palace. No guards were seen outdoors and I could hear the faint noise of all the fuss happening inside.

"You seem lonely." out of the blue, I heard a deep male voice behind. I turned my head and saw a tall, muscular guy around his 20s looking down at me. He was a few steps up back. The most weirdest part was that I recognised him. But from where? Where did I see him?

"Do I know you." I doubted.

He just responded with a smile, took a few steps down and sat beside me. Flynn Woods! It was him! It was that same guy who bothered my best friend, the one who escaped jail. But I had to make sure. Act normal Elodie, act normal, but I couldn't. I felt my heartbeat up to my throat and I felt colder.

"Escaped the dance?" he acquired. I just nodded. Nope, I couldn't wait any longer. I stood up at once. He had a confused look at his face. Little does he know what I am going to do. I felt terrified, the hair at the back of my neck rose. Where were the guards?!

"Your Flynn aren't you?" I backed up, balancing myself not to trip.

His look was now filled with evil, hatred and revenge. Revenge? I swiftly turned and ran towards the entrance of the palace. However I failed miserably. I felt a hand on my ankle and stumbled. My knee was hurting and my head was bruised as I hit the stairs dreadfully. My head was spinning and my sight became blurry.

"One more to go."
