As a sword spirit previously, Bie Feng did not have to worry about material things such as money. But currently, in this life, the money given by Xiao Li when he left 3 weeks ago was already depleting and he started to panic in his heart.
The money left is good for medications and food for the next 1 week or so. After that, both the sick elderly and the young child would have to starve.
Since his leg has mostly recovered, he was pondering if he should get a job when he suddenly remembered something...
Didn't the original work for Old Huang before he woke up in this body? Where did his salary before he awakened in this body go?
Bie Feng doesn't remember finding any money on him when he woke up as a human child and his memory seems to be a little fuzzy regarding the kind of work that was done.
"Hmmm, where does this Old Huang live?" Bie Feng decided that he has to go to the Village soon to enquire more about Old Huang.
It has been more than 3 weeks since he woke up as a child. Although he has been to the village a couple of times, he has not spoken to anyone from the village. Even buying medications for Uncle Duan was done through a paper prescription, where the medicine hall staff would just pick the herbs required for the medication and wrap them in a few bags before asking for payment.
It's actually not that Bie Feng was shy or did not want to talk. But according to the memories, this was how the original behaved so he did not want to behave too out of character for fear people would find it strange.
Stepping into the village, he looked around before setting his eyes on a tea house on the right. The tea house was simple but it was quite crowded at this time of the day. Bie Feng awkwardly stepped into the tea house and wanted to enquire with one of the waiters but they were all too busy to pay him any attention.
"How can I help you?" A woman in her 40s bent down and came onto the same eye level as the 6-year-old child.
"I'm… looking for Old Huang. Do you know where he is?" Bie Feng blinked as a strong smell of jasmine emitting from the woman's body went into his nose.
"Old Huang?... You mean the Old Huang from the next village?" The woman frowned and glanced at the boy in front of her "Why are you looking for him?"
"I need to ask him something." Bie Feng answered honestly. There was nothing to hide anyway.
"I'll be honest, nothing good ever comes from getting involved in Old Huang." The woman sternly advises him. Although she doesn't know where this child came from, as a mother herself, she couldn't stop herself from giving advice.
"I know. I just wanted to ask him some questions. How do I get to that village?" Bie Feng scratched his head in embarrassment.
"Just go south of this village, follow the path and you should be able to see it. Cai Li Village is 3 hours away from Tao Yi Village on foot."
"Thank you Big Sister!" Bie Feng smiled and headed towards the direction.
His sweet voice struck a chord in the woman's heart and she was a little embarrassed. Obviously, she is someone who already has a certain age, but this adorable boy still calls her a big sister instead of aunty.
"Wait!" The woman hurriedly went into the kitchen and came out with two plain buns.
"If you're going there now, take these with you. You must be hungry."
"You are so kind! Thank you Big Sister!" Bie Feng smiled brightly and ran off.
"Boss Li! Table 6 wants to make payment!" A waiter shouted over to the woman.
"I got it!" She stood up and went back to her usual routine.

Holding onto two buns, Bie Feng hastily ran back to the small house on the hill behind the village. He left the buns beside Uncle Duan's bed and tucked him in before heading out to the south of the village in search of Old Huang. He was not sure what time he would be back and was worried that Uncle Duan would have woken up with nothing to eat so he left the buns there despite himself holding back from salivating over them on the way back from town.
In recent weeks, Uncle Duan seems to only wake up once in a few days. Even feeding him medication became harder as he was not able to wake the elderly up. Deep down Bie Feng knows that the time to say goodbye is very soon, but he stubbornly held on to the fact that Uncle Duan is strong and could still hold on for a few more weeks.
After packing some dried rations, Bie Feng made his way south of the village towards Cai Li Village. He was enjoying the beautiful morning scenery and started humming happily.
Ever since he started life as a human, he was able to enjoy so many things. From the delicious taste of food, being able to converse with people (instead of him talking without a response previously), to be able to smell the morning dew when he walked past the grassy fields such as right now, he was grateful to be reborn as a human. And very soon when he becomes stronger, he could go find his master to be his human companion instead of being an "unanimated sword".
Walking for over 3 hours, it was now close to noontime and the sun hung high up in the sky. Big droplets started to fall off Bie Feng's face and his clothes were soaked with sweat. He finally saw a village far in his sight.
He was about to reach the village entrance when a teenage girl around the age of 18-19 who was out of breath ran into him. Because his body was small and malnourished, he was not strong enough to take on her sudden weight. He fell back from the impact and the teenage girl landed on top of him.
It would truly sound like a romantic encounter if not for the differing height.
