"Owh!! What's happening?!" Bie Feng led out a dissatisfied grunt but was not able to move as someone much heavier was on top of him.
"Get the fuck out of my way!" The teenage girl quickly stood up and continued running away from the village without even sparing a glance at the victim she just accidentally fell on.
As it all happened too fast, he was not able to see her face but he was cursing her under his breath as he slowly stood up and watched her run off the path and heading towards the forest. From the corner of his eye, he saw a red pouch lying among the grass at their point of impact. Bie Feng picked it up and wanted to check the contents of it, but before he could do so, he started to hear lots of footsteps and even horses nearby.
He quickly stuffed the small pouch inside of his boots as he was worried that those people approaching may be robbers. Although he doesn't know what is inside of it, the red pouch looks expensive and may attract the wrong kind of attention.
"Have you seen a young girl running past here earlier?" A boy with an arrogant air around him questioned Bie Feng.
"Uhh was it someone wearing pink… yes, she went down the path." Bie Feng innocently replied as he pointed towards the direction of where he came from.
"Give chase!" The boy hustled his team of members and headed towards the direction of the path.
"...and he didn't even say thank you. Serve him right for not being able to find her." Bie Feng mumbled to himself after the group was out of his sight.
The girl that bumped into him earlier was rude, but he had no intention to lead the group to her death, thus giving out false information to them. "The rest is up to you" Bie Feng thought in his heart and headed into Cai Li Village.
"May I know where I can find Old Huang?" Bie Feng asked a side store owner selling some children toys.
"Old Huang? If you are talking about the rich merchant Old Huang of Cai Li town, then his residence is 2 streets away from here. It is a huge mansion so you should be able to see it once you reach that street."
Bie Feng thanked the store owner and went towards the direction he was given. He stood in front of a big mansion with the words hanging on its signboard made out of gold "Huang Residence"
"... he truly is rich ah"
He was about to approach the door when the door guards stopped him.
"Go away, we do not accept beggars."
...Which eye of yours see that I look like a beggar ah? Obviously, I have a beautiful face ah! Bie Feng complained internally but still put up a smile while replying to the fierce guard "Ahh… Uncle Guard, I am Qin Ji, previously I worked for Old Huang for a job but I have not received any payment…"
The guard eyed the 6-year-old child from top to bottom and laughed loudly. "Oh, what kind of job was it that the great Old Huang had to hire a child?"
"..." Bie Feng honestly can't remember.
Seeing the child become silent, he smirked at his initial guess that he was a beggar and chased him away with a threat that he would beat him up if he continued to stay here.
Bie Feng was just a child who hasn't unlocked his spiritual powers yet, so he really is at a disadvantage. He pretended to gloomily walk away to show the guard that he had given up, but secretly made his way to the back door of the residence. The backdoor is where all the groceries were transported and servants used it to get in and out of the residence.
With his small body, he hid among the empty boxes piled up outside the entrance of the side door. Bie Feng was not trying to sneak into the residence, what he was trying to do was to see if he could see anyone that could help jog his memory of his time working for Old Huang.
Half a day has passed and the people coming in and out of the residence are not few. But no one has seemed to trigger anything from his time here. The sun started to set and Bie Feng frowned in anger. He does not want to go home empty-handed!
As he was having an internal struggle to stay a bit longer or leave before it gets dark, there were a few servants who carried big and long boxes from the residence onto the carts. There were so many boxes being stacked onto the carts and they were slowly filling up many carts.
"The Huang family seems to be doing very good business eh!" Two nosey passerby started to gossip.
"Yes, since they specialize in making spears, they have been selling them in weekly batches to one of the major sects, GongXin Sect ah!"
"Wow, look at how many boxes there are… At least 50? Do spears all need to be in wooden boxes these days?"
"What would you know? These spears are magically crafted so they are very expensive and are usually packed individually to show off their status ah!"
Bie Feng grinned and thought about his past life where his master and him have seen even more luxurious stuff that don't even make any sense. Such as eating eggs on a silver egg holder, drinking plain water from a golden cup and much more.
Just when he was almost deep into his daydreaming after he deem the boxes as nothing interesting, he noticed that each wooden box has a small almost non-visible dot of differing colour at the corner of the box. Some were blue, some were yellow and some were green, some colours were more than the other, while some only had one, such as white colour.
If you don't take a careful look at it, you would have missed this detail, but who is Bie Feng? He has lived his whole life previously just simply observing. He could really be crowned the king of observing if there were such a thing.
Maybe the disciples in GongXin Sect liked choosing spears of different colours? Very unlikely in the world of wuxia. In this world, no one will care if your spear had diamond or gold on it as long as it could serve its purpose. No one would really want to carry something pretty just for the sake of it...
Something is definitely amiss!
