"Overkill for a desperate Runaway"

Without wasting a single moment, I searched his pockets and found a pocketknife, along with a gun that seemed fully loaded. I wasn't planning to use it but it was definitely more reliable than any person.

Several minutes later, all of the girls were free of their shackles. We couldn't waste any more time so I asked if anyone could drive but got reluctant replies as none of them were old enough for a driver's license. A slightly older girl said she could drive but didn't have a proper driver's license, neither did she attempt the test but this was the risk that had to be taken in order, to save our lives from the hands of these drunken savages.

The girl asked for a key which neither of us had including the unconscious man, a wave of panic took control of all the girls, till a girl who looked no older than 14 years said quietly:

"We could use something like a pointed object like a hairpin to start the van."

Part of me knew it wouldn't work but it was worth a shot so we arranged a hairpin and climbed to the driver's seat. We all tried and failed until a gothic girl said:

" I can try as I have experience in picking locks, so maybe I could start the car."

Obviously, no one objected as she was our last hope, she demanded silence, and another hairpin, she got both in less than a minute.

She twisted both the hairpins in a way that resembled a key shape. She inserted the key and her first attempt resulted in failure and everygirl looked extremely disappointed but my faith clung to her, I whispered in her ear:

"Don't worry, just relax and try again. We all believe in your superior skills."

She smiled and took deep breaths before her final attempt. This time she closed her eyes and twisted the key inside the keyhole, after series of weird and mechanical sounds, the van started.

I couldn't help but hug our car starting expert, all of the girls hugged her too.

She was annoyed and overjoyed at the same time. One of the girls had the idea of hooting but I timely stopped them by saying:

"Not a single soul here is going to make any kind of noise unless you want to die."

Afterward, there was pin-drop silence. We got back to work.
