The lobby of Carlyle Tower spanned across what would be 10 blocks of a street. The building had been like this since it was made during the Roaring Twenties, wide, modern and clean; so clean that line would shine from the windows sometimes especially during the afternoon. Even as the Crash went by in the 30s, that did not stop the Tower from conducting its operations. The headquarters of the Carlyle Hotel chains had steam running in its engine.
That engine was stopped now in the form of tens to hundreds of employees and staff, all huddled up in one giant circle, the only person who was on her two feet being Odette Black herself. Walking around the tied up hostages, her pocket watch came out from the coat, floating in front of her, and opening it. The watch was coated in gold, and on the top of the lid her first name was engraved.
