Chapter 4

"What the hell do you think you are doing here." Arek shouted

Veronica was taken back with his roaring voice.

"I... I am... so....rry.?" Veronica stumbled

"Is it that difficult to say Ms. Ray?" Arek roared

Veronica was now flustered. Never. Never ever has anyone shouted at her. Not even her parent's. Arek shouting on her for something she was not mistake at made her lose her cool now.

"It was not my mistake. I was just going to knock. You just bumped into me at the same time." Veronica tried to explain

"You Ms. Ray. Do you understand where you are standing? Do you think its an easy place for everyone to get into." Arek questioned

Veronica didn't reply

"Ms. Ray, Do you think this job is some kind of joke? You are having fun of your life here? Do you think I am an easy person? I tried to be nice with you because you are an intern here and this must be your first experience in the business world. But I think me being nice to you is taken lightly by you." Arek spoke while moving here and there in his office.

He was so angry that he didn't even spare a glance at Veronica and kept shouting at her. When Veronica didn't reply to him. He looked at her. He was taken by surprise when he saw her head bend and she was weeping silently.

Veronica showed some courage and finally spoke "I am sorry Mr. Alden. I will keep it in my mind that what place I stand in. I won't disappoint you again. Sorry for the mess." with that she left Arek's office.

She went out and tried to suppress her tears.

"Veronica don't. Don't cry over that asshole. Don't do that." Veronica kept chanting it to herself. Her anger turning into the tears now.

"Veronica. Are you alright?" Lina came running to her as soon as she saw Veronica coming out the cabin.

"Yeah." Veronica replied and avoided speaking further.

"Your voice is sore. Are you crying." Lina asked while checking Veronica's face.

"Its okay. Seriously. I better go and clean myself up and get him another coffee. Then can you explain me other stuff?" Veronica asked forcing a smile.

"Yeah sure." Lina replied

Veronica tried to clean the coffee stain. But coffee stains are difficult to remove. She sighed. There is no way she will be able to deal with Arek in a human way. "He is everything except human." She thought

She then made the coffee again and went near his office door. Instead of standing in front of the door and knocking, she was standing by the side of the door. She was doing this just to ensure that if Arek decides to appear all of a sudden then she will not be bumping into him. She knocked the wooden door of his office.

"Come in." Came the calm voice of Arek

Veronica entered in the office. And quietly kept Arek's coffee on his desk. She noticed that he changed into new pair of clothes. Now he was wearing dark blue three piece Armani suit. But this one was little bright shade compared to the last one he was wearing.

"This guy must be obsessed with blue." Veronica thought

Then she looked at Arek's face and spoke "Your coffee." with a straight face

"Ms. Ray." Arek spoke while looking at Veronica's face. Then he continued "We have meeting in an hour. I don't think you will be able to learn about work from Lina today."

"Take these files." He handed her a couple of files. And continued further, "These files contain the information of our investor. Learn everything about them. Before you meet them, you should know everything about them." Arek told her

She nodded in reply.

"Why do you want to work in media department?" Arek questioned her

"Because its something I am interested in." Veronica replied with a straight face

"You simply don't do things because you are interested in. There is always a reason." Arek countered

"But that reason is enough for me." Veronica replied back

Arek just stared at her. He was trying to study her expression. But she kept her face straight.

"Mr. Alden, if you don't have any other work for me then can I take your leave? I need to study these files in an hour thoroughly." Veronica asked

"Yeah. You can leave." Arek replied

Veronica nodded and left.

Once she was out of Arek's cabin she searched for Lina. She was looking here and there and then finally she found her.

"Hey Lina." Veronica waved at her

"Hey Veronica are you okay. Mr. Alden sometimes gets beyond angry over something." Lina replied

"Yeah. You are talking to an experienced person." Veronica joked

Lina laughed in reply.

"Well Lina, I came to tell you that I am sorry, I won't be able to learn anything from you today. I got some files from Mr. Alden to study. These files have some information about the investors we have meeting with in an hour. I have very less time. I have to go with him in the meeting." Veronica spoke

"That's completely fine. I think you should study hard. Mr. Alden gets very angry if anyone compromises with work." Lina replied

"Lina, don't worry. Now I have a idea about it. Seriously is there is anything that makes this guy not angry?" Veronica questioned

"I don't think so." Lina joined her humor.

Veronica laughed.

"Did you have your lunch?" Lina asked

"No, I didn't get time for that. And I don't think I will have time for that." Veronica replied

"Have something before you go. Once you are with Mr. Alden you won't get anytime to eat." Lina advised

"I will grab something to eat. Thanks." Veronica replied

"No problem." Lina replied

Veronica smiled and was about to leave when Lina interrupted "Hey Veronica, if you will be here by tea break, then lets eat together."

"I would love too join you. I don't know anyone here. I only knew my friend but she is in other department now." Veronica replied

"Great then. Lets meet at tea time. Lets share our number" Lina spoke

Veronica and Lina shared their phone numbers.

"By the way Veronica are you going to leave like this?" Lina asked pointing towards the coffee stain

"Yeah. I guess I have too. I don't have any spare clothes here. And my home is far from here. I won't be able to return in an hour if I go there to change. Plus I can't go for shopping because I have only an hour left for the meeting." Veronica replied

"Don't worry about changing. I have a pair of spare clothes here." Lina replied while searching her desk

"Its completely fine. You don't need to do that." Veronica replied

"Don't worry. Its okay. Don't go around in a meeting like that. It will give a wrong impression. Here have this." Lina replied while handling her a pair of clothes.

Veronica was just checking the clothes when Lina interrupted "Don't worry. I think your size and mine size is same. It will fit you. Hurry up. Go and change" Lina spoke

Veronica thanked her and left to change her clothes in the washroom. She looked at her reflection. She was wearing a mini version of pencil skirt which was little above her knees but she was comfortable in it and a crème color plain blouse.

She stepped out of the washroom and came back.

"Hey Veronica you look good." Lina replied

"Thank you Lina." Veronica replied

"By the way Lina, from where I am suppose to work?" Veronica asked

"Well, you need to go there," Lina replied pointing towards the zed black wooden door which had a name plate 'Mr. Arek Alden'.

Veronica gave her a look are-you-kidding-me.

"No way. His secretary used to work in his cabin?" Veronica asked shocked.

"Well yes. Because Mr. Alden would ask for her every now and then so he shifted her cabin in his office. That way it was easy for him to communicate." Lina replied

Veronica sighed.

"It will be a very long day." Veronica thought and then she left for Arek's cabin.

She reached in front of the door and knocked.

"Come in." Arek replied

She entered with the files in her hand.

As she entered, Arek looked at her from head to toe.

Veronica cleared her throat and spoke "Am I suppose to work from here? Lina told me that I need to work in your office. I just wanted to confirm."

"Yeah. That's your seat." Arek replied pointing towards the desk and chair diagonal to him.

Veronica followed his hand to see the desk. She went there and took a seat. She started going through the files.

She completed one file and looked at the time. She had 25 minutes more. She started going through the second file when she noticed a silhouette. She looked up to find Arek standing beside her.

"Ms. Ray, lets leave." Arek informed her.

She looked confused. He told her that they will leave in an hour. But its 20 minutes left to complete an hour. Why is he asking her to leave now. Plus she has not completed the files yet.

"You can complete these files in the car." Arek answered the unanswered question of her

She took the files in her hand and stood up from her seat. Arek started walking towards the door and she followed.
