Chapter 10
Finally the weekend arrived. Veronica woke up and saw Natalie cuddled up in her. Her head was placed in Veronica's arm. She moved her to the pillow and went on with her morning rituals. After shower and getting ready in comfy clothes, she went downstairs to make breakfast for her and Natalie.
Once she was done with the breakfast she checked the time. It was 10 am. She went upstairs and woke Natalie up. She crawled up to Veronica's shoulders and slept again. Veronica sighed.
After 2 failed attempts of waking Natalie up, Veronica took her to the bathroom and wiped her face with clean wipes. Natalie woke up and stretched her arms up. She looked in Veronica's brown eyes and smiled. Veronica smiled back at her and helped her brush her teeth. Then she put Natalie on the ground and helped her to stand up and walk all by herself.
It took a while for them to get downstairs as Natalie kept tripping every now and then and Veronica kept her helping. After finally reaching the breakfast table, Veronica put Natalie on her baby chair and put small sized cut fruits in front of her chair's table. Natalie happily took the small pieces of fruits and played with it. Veronica gave her a stern look and she quickly started eating it. Veronica switched on her television and played cartoons. That's one thing that both liked.
After eating they played for a while, Veronica put Natalie in her play room and started cleaning the house. While cleaning she heard her cellphone ringing. She went upstairs to check. Her phone was on her bed with slow blinking of light from the screen. She grabbed her phone and saw a unknown number calling. She answered her phone.
"Hello" Veronica spoke
"Am I talking to Ms Veronica Ray?" The other person on the line spoke
"Yes, this is Veronica, who is this?" Veronica replied
"Ms. Ray, I am Pearl, Mr Thomson's secretary calling from his office. Actually it about the paper work submitted by Alden Group of industries." Pearl spoke
"Yeah tell me. Is there any problem with the paper work?" Veronica replied
"Well, the paper seems fine but I think Mr Alden forgot to sign the last page of the paper work." Pearl replied
"I see. Pearl is it possible to wait till Monday? Because Mr Alden won't be attending any calls or emails. He is busy this weekend and has asked me to keep his schedule clean for 2 days." Veronica replied
"I am sorry Ms Ray, but the signature is very important and without it we cannot move forward with the deal. His signature holds the acceptance of the deal. If he doesn't sign he won't be able to represent his work." Pearl replied
"Oh no. Thats really bad. Is there anything you can do to help me with this. I got a strict instruction not to disturb him during his weekend. Please can you tell Mr. Thomson to hold this paper work till Monday. Its not like Mr Alden is an unknown person. Everybody knows him. I am sure Mr Thomson won't mind since its about Alden group of companies." Veronica requested
"Ms Ray I understand. But I am really sorry. I can't help you with this. Mr Thomson made rules and we have to follow. Its either you get the signatures today and submit it today itself in the office or there will be no deal." Pearl replied
"Okay let me see what I can do. Thanks for informing me about this issue." Veronica replied
"No problem. Please make you sure you submit the documents by today. First of all collect the incomplete document from our office, get Mr Alden's signatures and submit it by 5 pm." Pearl spoke
"Okay. I will be there by 1 to collect the document. Thanks." Veronica replied
"No problem. Bye" Pearl spoke
"Bye" Veronica spoke and ended the call
'Looks like my life is fucked up now. Was I thinking too much of having a lazy weekend. Dammit" Veronica spoke to herself
She went back to the play room and saw Natalie playing her doll house. Veronica sat near her and patted her head. Natalie turned towards her and smiled.
"Nats it looks like you are going to have blast with aunt Navi." Veronica spoke to Natalie
Natalie laughed and clapped in response.
Veronica called Navi.
"What the hell Ver." Navi groaned in sleepy voice
"Bro, I need you to come to the house and baby sit Natalie." Veronica replied
"You got to be kidding me." Navi replied
"No I am not. I need to step out because I am a bloody secretary of an asshole who only dreamt of having a lazy weekend now has to work her asses off because the asshole forgot to put a teeny tiny sign on a paper work." Veronica replied angrily
"Dude, no need to get angry on me. Wait for 15 minutes I will be there." Navi replied quickly and hung up on Veronica
Veronica sighed. She went upstairs to change. After changing she tried to locate Alden Mansion but she didn't get the exact address. She called Lina.
"Hi Lina, what's up?" Veronica spoke as Lina picked up her call
"Hey Veronica." Lina replied
"Lina I need your help. Actually I wanted to know where exactly Alden Mansion is?" Veronica spoke
"Are you serious. Why do you want to know the address of Alden Mansion?" Lina replied
"Well, because I have to go there." Veronica replied in 'duh' tone
"Veronica you got to be kidding me. You are going to the Alden Mansion. Not a good idea. You know Mr Alden would get mad if you disturb him there." Lina replied
"What the hell is wrong with everyone. Why don't people take me seriously and wait I am not disturbing him. Instead I am helping him with his deal. He forgot to sign the paperwork and if it not submitted today, they will reject his proposal. He made us work our asses off for a week and he forgot to put a signature on a damn piece of paper." Veronica replied angrily
"Calm down Veronica. Look its not a good idea to go there. Arek spends time with his family and doesn't like anyone disturbing him there." Lina replied
"Lina, I am not disturbing him. I will just go there take his signatures. It just a matter of a minute." Veronica replied
"Still not a good idea. See he is very particular about his family time. The guy literally lives like a vampire. Doesn't like paps taking his photos, doesn't attend public events, keeps his personal life more freaky kind of private. I mean literally nobody knows about him. He fired his secretary before just because she went to the Alden Mansion for some business work. He doesn't work when he is with his family. Strange I know but true. He is a kind of workaholic but when he is with family, he doesn't work at all. He likes to keep things that way." Lina explained
"Look Lina, I need to try. I worked so hard on the project and just because of stupid damn signatures if my work goes wasted, I would not like that. Plus Mr Alden worked too hard for this project too. I don't think he would like that." Veronica replied
"Fine. Look I tried explaining you. Now you help yourself out with this. I will message you the address. And never tell him I told you the address." Lina replied
"My mouth is sealed don't worry." Veronica replied and they shared their goodbyes and hanged up the call.
As soon as Veronica ended the call, she heard her doorbell, she knew exactly who it was but she still checked just to confirm.
"Open the door you smart ass." Navi spoke while pressing the doorbell again
Veronica opened the door.
"What took you so long?" Navi questioned
"It just took me a minute to answer the door." Veronica replied
"Yeah right." Navi replied sarcastically
"Btw how are you going?" Navi asked
"I will take the cab." Veronica replied
"This is why you should learn how to drive." Navi replied
"Shut up. And listen Natalie is in her play room. Feed her the mashed vegetables thats in freezer and I suppose she will sleep after that. Take care and if there is a problem, call me." Veronica replied
"Fine you take care." Navi replied and closed the door
Veronica took a cab.
"Where Miss?" The driver asked
"To Thomson enterprise please." Veronica replied
