Chapter 11

Veronica reached the Thomson's enterprise. She entered the building and went straight to the reception.

"Hi, My name is Veronica Ray, I am Mr Arek Alden's secretary. I am here to pickup some paper work. Ms Pearl must have left it here for me." Veronica introduced herself to the woman who was sitting in the reception. The woman's name read Tris Woods on her name plate batch.

"Hi Ms Ray, yes Pearl left little package for you here. Let me search for it." Tris replied

"Thank you so much Ms Woods" Veronica replied

"No problem." Tris replied

Finally Tris found a package and handed it over to Veronica.

"Here you go Ms Ray." Tris said while handling the package

"Thanks." Veronica replied with a smile and quickly left for Alden Mansion.

She quickly hired a cab and told the destination's address. Veronica was getting anxious second by second. Her hands started to get sweaty. She knew exactly what she was getting herself into. When Arek asked her not to disturb, he meant it. She knew if she was going there he would be mad and can even fire her. Inspite of knowing this she still went with this because she knew everyone worked so hard for this project that too for an entire week just to crack the deal. She doesn't want to waste that just because of a damn signature.

Veronica was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't even noticed the big black bar gates where the cab stopped.

"Miss we are here." Driver informed

Veronica came out of thoughts and then she noticed the big black bar gates. There was a security force standing there. Veronica paid the driver and got out of the cab. She started walking towards the door and came face to face with the security force.

"Who are you Miss?" One of the security person asked

"My name is Veronica Ray, I am Mr Alden's secretary." Veronica informed while showing her office id.

The security person took the card to confirm the identity and returned the card to her.

"Miss I am sorry but you are not allowed inside." The security person spoke

"Look I know I am not allowed inside but this is really important. I need to get signatures of Mr Alden on these paper or else he will lose the business deal. It is really important please try to understand." Veronica explained

"Miss I am sorry we are doing what we are instructed to do. Only family members can go inside. Other then them no one is allowed inside." Security replied

"Look I completely understand but please try to understand lot of people worked so hard on this project to get this deal. If we don't get this deal all the efforts would go in vain. If you can't allow me in can you please pass my message to Mr Alden. It would be really helpful. I won't enter the premise and you can inform him about the situation here and he can sign the papers which obviously you will bring to him. Then you can bring those papers back to me. And I will go back. See everyone's happy. No rules spoiled." Veronica explained

"Fine Miss you are insisting way too much. First let me ask Mr Alden about this. If he allows I will takes these papers to him." The security replied

"What is happening here Josh?" someone spoke from far

"Mr Sanders, Mr Alden's secretary came here to get signatures on some paperwork." The security whose name was Josh informed

"Let her in." Mr Sanders spoke

"But Mr Sanders, you know Mr Alden doesn't like bringing work here." Josh replied

"Its okay. I will talk to him. Let her in." Mr Sanders replied

The security allowed Veronica to enter the premise. They first did all the security check and then she finally was out of the security room. Once she was out she saw Mr Sanders who helped her get inside.

"Thank you so much for helping me out." Veronica spoke to Mr Sanders

"No problem. Btw my name is Sean, Sean Sanders." Sean said while pushing his hands up for a handshake

"Veronica Ray" Veronica replied while shaking hands with him

"So you are his secretary?" Sean asked

"Yes Mr Sanders." Veronica replied

"That's really bad. Btw please call me Sean."

"Okay Sean. But what do you mean by 'that's really bad'?" Veronica enquired

"Well, working with him is like living hell. Plus you are his secretary. Am still shocked that you are alive." Sean joked

Veronica laughed on his humour.

"No its nothing like that." Veronica replied

"Come I will take you to Arek." Sean replied while guiding Veronica with him

They kept talking about work when finally they arrived in front of the house. Veronica was amazed by looking at the house.

Four storey white building spread on acres of land with lots and lots of french windows. There was a porch areas for cars to drop by. The area was supported by four pillars above which there was a big balcony with lots of plants. In front of the porch was a big fountain surrounded by beautiful and big garden. All kinds of flowers grow there. On corner side there was a badminton court. Veronica was so amazed with her surrounding that she didn't even notice that Sean was laughing at her expressions.

Finally when Veronica came out of her trance she noticed Sean laughing.

"Why are you laughing?" Veronica asked

"Well you should look at you expressions. You looked so funny. You looked exactly like a little girl who saw a big palace." Sean joked

"Well nonetheless, it is not less than a palace for say." Veronica replied

"Okay I will take you inside. And let me warn you people will freak out once they see you because Arek doesn't bring work home. At least here. So when they kind of know you are his secretary and you are here because of work, it will blow their minds." Sean replied jokingly

"How many people are in there exactly? I mean you are freaking me out. Why don't you take these papers from me and get his signatures so that I can leave." Veronica asked

"Come on don't be scared. It would be fun. You are going to see so many shocked faces today." Sean replied

"Yeah. Thanks for scaring me more." Veronica replied unsure

"Come on lets go." Sean spoke

He took Veronica inside the mansion. Everything inside look antique and priceless. Starting with the big black door. It complimented the white mansion perfectly. As they entered Veronica noticed the carpeted flooring and everything looked rich and royal. Walls had cream golden wallpapers and filled with priceless paintings, lighting was golden, and everything looked surreal.

After finally arriving inside Veronica saw huge hall. Everything was white, walls and ceilings and the furnitures were wooden brown or black. Veronica kept noticing when Sean asked her to sit on the couch and wait for him to bring Arek. While he was telling this to Veronica, they heard a voice.

"What are you doing here?" Arek's voice roared

Veronica was surprised and Sean was shocked.

"How the hell did you even manage to enter inside premise." Arek spoke angrily

"I..... I .... ca...ca...me... he.... he..re" Veronica was scared with his demeanour.

Before Veronica or Sean would speak or explain, Arek dragged Veronica by holding her arms tightly. He dragged her outside of the mansion and took her to the corner of the garden. Once he reached he forcefully left her causing her to collide with the wall. Veronica groaned in response.

"Tell me why are you here? You got paid to spy on me? Which news channel or paper is paying you to get glimpses of the inside of the mansion." Arek's voice roared

"What?" This time Veronica replied equally agitated

"Stop pretending this bullshit and tell me why the hell are you here?" Arek replied

"I came here to get your signatures on..." Veronica was speaking and Arek interrupted " wait a minute, signature, are you some kind of drama fan? I am bloody asking you start speaking before I do something we both would regret." Arek yelled more loudly

Veronica cried because of his behaviour. Arek got beyond mad with this and he grabbed her arms tightly and pushed her to the wall. Veronica winced in pain. She knew his handprints will be on her arms for long time.

"Veronica start speaking before I do something. Why are you here? Are you here to seduce my cousin and sleep with him. Is this your shortcut to became rich? You looked very ambitious but I never knew you could go to this level. Bloody hell. Start speaking Veronica." Arek's yelled

Veronica was beyond mad now. She pushed Arek and slapped him tightly across his face. Arek was too shocked at her gesture.

"What the hell." Arek spoke

"Mr Alden I have never seen a asshole like you. I brought you papers from Mr Thomson's office. You submitted those papers without signing on the last page. I got a call from his secretary. She told me she tried calling you but your phone was not reachable so she asked me to pick these papers up for you and get your signatures. I know its my mistake that even after you telling me not to disturb you on the weekend, I still came looking for you. And I am really sorry for that. I only wanted your signatures so that those people who worked so hard on the project won't feel bad about their efforts because of a stupid signature which you forgot to put on these damn papers. Those hard working people includes you too. I didn't wanted your efforts to get wasted like that. My mistake was to get these papers here. But instead of listening to me like a normal human, you started yelling at me. You are a monster. Bloody bastard. Keep your fucking contract and job with you Mr Alden because I can't work with a person who cannot be civilised enough to behave." Veronica spoke in one go without catching her breath. As soon as she was done, she threw the papers on Arek's face and started walking to the main gate of the mansion. She didn't even wait to here Arek's response or saw his face. She yelled on him on top of her voice and left.
