The Brothers

The wind blew gruesomely as Ariana stares into Avan's eyes.

He replied, " You already have a gut feeling that supernatural exist." "I am trying to keep you away from all that is about to happen."

Ariana turned away and asked, "What do I have to do with all this?"

He touched her shoulder and he replied, "Just keep away from anyone you are not familiar with.”

“Slow down,” Dimitri said to his brother.

“What is it, brother?”

“They slowed down,” Avan said.

“Who Avan?” she asked as they remained at the side of the alley.

“She’s here,” Dimitri said.

“Your mate?” Nick replied as he became confused.

Dimitri's hand reached for the door handle, “You think your mate is in an alley storming with rats?” Nick questioned his brother sarcastically.

Dimitri halted and replied, “I’m not sure.”

“I doubt it, brother.”

Nick gradually drove off from the street and head for the bright up town filled with clubs, bars, and restaurants.

“We need to go.” Avan implied.

Ariana was left stunned, not sure what Avan was talking about and now she had realized that I was telling her the truth all this time. Nick and Dimitri set off on the search of finding their mates. It was important to do so because time was running out on them.

"Being cursed his good brother." Dimitri winked at his brother Nick and said.

"Let us hit the clubs, you know I need to get drunk with girls all over" Nick incentive words when he shook his golden blonde hair back.

Dimitri nodded his head, "Oh brother you haven't changed a bit.”

The night clubs were filled with on the spot table strippers and pole dancers who were desperate to make some dollars tonight. For a Wednesday night, the club Naughty Girl was packed with desperate men trying to get in on some of the action. It was always the single type or the perverted aged men who wanted to feel youthful again. Those were the types that would seek pleasure outside, for it seems as though that there was not much action going on in their bedroom. Tight naked bodies in high heels with long hair swinging on poles was enough for them to take into a private corner just to get satisfied.

"Why did we come here?" Dimitri with a zesty look on his face as he walked into the club.

Nick grinned at him, "We're here to find our mates, now let me go check some blondes.”

“The alley was better!”, Dimitri shouted just enough to overpower the loud music when Nick swiftly took off from his side.

Nick had a fetish liking for blonde girls, he was a party lover and a hunk that could of attract any girl's eyes. He was full of himself without a doubt and opened minded to many sexual things. They called him a sex appeal God back where he came from. His smooth eight-pack v cut abs, chest bearing of no hair, well kept clean body and of course, he had a wicked attractive smile to die for. Not forgetting he was straightforward and if he wanted you, he knew how to register his sweet words in your head. Dimitri approached the remote bar area; he came across a half nude bartender. She had thick black long hair reaching down to her assets and dark green mesmerizing eyes. She smiled seductively at him as he took his wallet out.

“Scotch please.” the six feet of handsomeness requested from the attractive bartender.

"What a handsome fellow like you are doing here?" she asked, and she wiped the wet counter surface.

She seemed quite interested in him by the way she spoke politely towards Nick. He seemed to have come from a wealthy background and he also had the look to go with his money when he flashed the hundred-dollar bills at her. Young fresh meat was all the young lady saw on her face. His brown shoulder-length hair flowed down his paled cold face. It was slightly hovering over his dark blue cryptic eyes and his lips bear a color so pink as a perpetual rose in a desolating land of winter. He carried himself as a gentleman would, the way he dressed, and act says it all that he was not from here. The woman noticed he was not up for a conversation. He paid her extras for the drink, she cashed in the amount charged and instantly put the rest in her pocket. There was no exchange of words, she did not bother to try and further a conversation because she knew he was not responding to her. Instead, he sat on the barstool and watched his drunk brother making out with a blonde girl. Dimitri smiled when he noticed his brother's happy groove to the beat of the night club. He was there in the moment excitingly dancing the night away and stressed free. Back at the covenant, Dorian grew to learn more about the swords before his time, his uncle Michael had once predicted the future of the cold battled between vampires and sorcerers.

“They will try to overthrow them, the time a monster eating flesh will try to depart them, but all will prevail once the prince discovers himself.” Dorian read the harsh predictions from the scribble diary.

“Ping!” “Ping!”

Dorian pressed his phone and read a message, “The brothers are here.”

He quickly responded to the messaging to asked how Avan knew this.

“Ring!” “Ring!”

Immediately Dorian's phone rings, he picked up the call, and before he could say anything, “Nev had confirmation from the wolves and I just happened to see a brand-new Audi A6 drove past the streets.”

“Well, that might just be Dimitri, where are they headed?”

“Looks like into the town.”

“I should come.”

“No, not yet, let the archer’s sort this out.” “Get in,” Avan said to Ariana after he opened the passenger seat.

Dorian sighed, he wanted to prove his worth by taking down the brothers. He wished his father could realize that he was ready to take over the covenant.

“The archers are not here for the brothers but to investigate something else.”

He got into the driver's side and asked, “What may that be?”

Ariana remained there unsure what to do next, all of a sudden, she was in the middle of a cold brewing war between the supernaturals. She had no say in this fiasco and Ariana was upset, all ready to blow fuse with her questions.

“I can’t say until I am sure.” “Just tell Nev to keep his eyes alert.” Jess walked into the conversation and observed Dorian on the phone, he could hear everything from both sides.

“Tyrel works at the Pembroke hotel on the outskirts and they had been staying there.” “He also did mention that they specifically asked about two girls and gave names of Ariana and Katie.”

Instantly her face turned his way as he drove past the lively town, she was confused after hearing her name and mines.

“Tell Tyrel to keep the wolves alerted out there, let Nev take the cover of the town and the rest of the pack should cover the woods.” his eyes remained on the road and the phone by his ear as he played attention to Dorian’s instruction.

Ariana regretted coming out tonight for a stroll, she realized the situation was deeper than she thought.

“What about the archers?”

“Don’t worry about them, they can’t hurt us unless we break the rules.”

“Right.”

“Be safe and keep this between us.”

Avan hanged up the phone and Ariana continued to stare at him in hope that he can give her some answers. His eyes kept forth as he concentrated on the narrow roads out of Juneau. She knew that they had already passed her road to home.

“Where are you taking me?”

“So that you can see that this is all real and I have to find Tyrel.”

“I believe you and Katie already told me that you people are weird.”

“But did you believe her then?”

She gulped her saliva before she speaks again, it was no doubt she did not believe what I had said before, not even a little. He stopped the vehicle and then turned to face her.

“Whatever is going on here is more than we know of as to right now.”

“What do you mean.”

“There are two brothers which are cursed to die and in searched of two girls that might help them.”

“So, what is so bad in that, we can’t just let people die.” “Do you even know them?”

“Yes, but it is not up to us to save anyone, this is between the covenant and them.”

She took a deep breath after hearing his words, she felt disappointed in him and he tried to find her eyes, but her head remained lowered in disbelief, “Please take me home.”

Ariana wished to call it a night between her and Avan, she was in no mood for going on an adventure with him now.

He nodded his head and started the car, “Fine.”

The car then turned around and headed back to Juneau. They kept silent throughout the drive; she was seated there hoping for an apology, but she could not understand that it was not his place to intervene. Avan just saw it as though she needed protection after Tyrel mentioned her name being called by one of the brothers.

“So, are you one of them too?” she asked breaking the silence.

“No, just D and Jess are part of this covenant.”

“What about Nev?”

“He is part of the Alaskan wolf pack.”

“This is confusing.”

“No, it’s not.” “I grew up with Dorian and then two years after Nev came along.”

“That’s nice, seems like you all have been friends for quite some time.”

Avan took a moment to reflect on the time when he first saw Dorian running away into the forest. He went after him in hopes of helping Dorian and they returned out as good friends. From that day there was no separating them, he never doubted his friend’s power and ability.

“Listen, please keep this between us, don’t even tell Katie.”

The car halted and she got out and said, “I hope you can change your mind on helping those guys.”

“Goodnight,” he said.

Avan gradually drove down the road, he was breaking down knowing that he would have to lose her to help the brothers. There was no doubt that the brothers would put up a fight and he will have no choice but to keep away from her.

The summer of May was here, and it was the last day of school as vacation was about to begin before college. I sat on a wooden bench and wrote in my red diary about the circumstances that took place weeks ago. Finally, I felt the heat against my face as the sun blooms in Juneau. The winds were still here keeping the heat down a notch. I love climate change, but the weather was never promising to stay like this, so I best enjoy it. I looked around to see the other students at their tables all happy. I could not help but stared at a couple making out in a corner, I was jealous of what they had. Cynthia and Peter, what a nice couple they were. They were two of the most down to earth people I knew and a part of me wanted to be like them. I checked my watch and remembered that I needed to see the guidance counselor. I grabbed my book bag and quickly head to the office. I rushed into the office as her door was left open.

“Miss Simran.”

She looked up from her desk and responded, “Katie, nice to see you’re here.”

I took a seat and rested my bag on my lap, “Can we do this quick.”

“Where are you eager to head off?”

“I have to get measured for my grads gown.”

“Ah, so tell me how you feel today.”

I smiled and said, “I’ve met this guy and somehow he makes me feel better.”

“Okay, what do you talk about?” “What do you both do?

“Nothing.” “We just stare at each other,” I said and frowned.

“Do you like him?”

“I think I do.” “He makes me feel like waking up each day and coming here.”

She smirked and stared at me, “Let’s elaborate shall we.”

I glimpsed at her and then watched the wooden clock ticking on the wall.

“You, like this guy who seems to have never spoken to you and he makes you happy because of what?”

“I know that you would not get it.”

“Then help me to Katie.”

“He makes me feel better when I see him.” “When he saved me, I could not deny that there was something between us.”

She took out some papers from her drawer and asked, “Does he go to this school?”

I nodded my head; I knew he did not, and I just could not have lied to her.

“Where does he go?”

“He’s in college I think.”

She cleared her throat. I knew that I should not have told her such things I felt inside. I was having a thing for a guy I did not know and in my head maybe it was because of my sour ending with Dorian.

“Katie, you need to be careful.” “If you wish to date a guy try seeing a boy from school.”

Now Miss Simran was giving me relationship advice.

“Or maybe you should take a break seeing that Dorian did not work out.”

On the plus side, she was right, I needed a break from boys. I smiled and stared at her. Suddenly his face popped in my head and her phone started ringing.

“Hey, babe I’ll call you back.” “With a student at the moment.”

Even she had a relationship and seemed happy. Quickly she cut the call and looked at me.

“Is it new?” I asked.

“Excuse me?”

“Your relationship.”

She placed the phone on her desk and responded, “Um, Katie we’re here to talk about you.”

I stared at her and waited.

“Yes, but only because I care about you, I’m telling you this.” “He’s a nice guy and we’ve only been on four dates, but I want more.”

I chuckled, perhaps Miss Simran was not getting any action as, yet I thought.

“Fine, I’m just going to finish my assignments and go off to college, forget about boys.”

“You did so well with the Sat's.” “Don’t throw all that away for some guy.”

“Ring.” “Ring.”

The bell alarmed off and it was time to head back to class.

“Great, with that, said you can proceed to your other class, and if you need to talk feel free to call during the vacation.”

I quickly got up and left Miss Simran to get back to her love life. I felt like I was on a roller coaster, one minute I wanted to hear Dorian out and the next I wish to keep my distance. I knew that this was it for us and I just needed to place my focus elsewhere. Once my assignments were completed, I just needed to wait for my college acceptance letters and it was goodbye Juneau High. Miss Simran quickly got into the passenger side and kissed her boyfriend on the cheek.

“Babe, sorry about earlier on.” “I just had this complicated student.”

“What happened?” he said.

“You know, teenagers.” she smiled and said, “Think they’re in love but it’s just some crushed.”

“Sounds intense.” “Maybe I can help, who is it?”

“Oh, I don’t want to get you involved in my silly work.”

She held his hand that was promptly rested on his lap, “No, I want to know.”

“Well, she thinks that she is in love with a guy that saved her.” “She has a thing for him but doesn’t even know him well.” “Can you imagine?”

He smiled and watched the road as he drove.

“She did not go into many details, but I think Katie is over her head.”

He quickly removed his hand from hers and placed it on the wheel.

“Hey, I just remembered I got to swing by uncle for this meeting.” “I’ll drop you home and maybe later we can talk.”

“Okay, sure,” she replied.

Days were passing by and I still did not hear from Dorian. I had thought that maybe it was over for good. The school was closed, and summer was in, I had no plans for my vacation, so I decided to invite Ariana over. I decided to go outside to my porch in wait for her. Suddenly my eyes opened with astonishment when I witnessed hotness being displayed next door. There were two handsome guys in the front yard of a rich green lawn. One was only in his white towel dripping wet and the other fully clothed. Ariana walked by and noticed the direction my eyes stared at and the awe expression on my face. She turned to look at the house next door, her face went from confused to wow.

I turned towards her and closed her opened mouth, "Are you drooling over that six-pack abs?"

I laughed out so obnoxiously loud that it made the guys noticed us and Ariana's cheeks quickly turned red as the towel guy waves our way. He had a refreshing smile to drool at, but it was his body that took the award instead.

"I think we have found them brother!", Dimitri exclaimed as he waved back towards us.

Dimitri could sense his mate from far, he could even read her body language and what she was thinking at that moment. Nick became furious as he read my mind, my thoughts were all about Dorian.

"Yes, I think you have found your mate, Dimitri!" Nick in an unpleasant tone said and walked back into the house.

Nick: Maybe she is not my mate and there could still be hope for me. I will keep my eyes out for her, and I am happy for my brother. He can finally get what he desired so much, his love.

Dimitri: Nick hates being tied down, but why was there a disappointing looked on his face just now? Even if I try asking, he will ignore the question, I hate how he can just shut his emotions out! Today I found my mate and she is as pure as the driven snow. This calls for a celebration drinks out tonight with Nick.

"It seems like you have two hot new neighbors huh?" Ariana poked me and said.

I have two hot new neighbors to myself but when did the previous owners move out. I did not even realize that the moving truck was around at any point in time.

"Seems legit."

Dimitri went in after his brother, “So what’s up?”

“If you are trying to get me to talk about my feelings, we both know that’s impossible and that girl is not my mate.”

“How can you be so sure?” Dimitri asked and then said, “She is Katie.”

“Not my Katie, she has been with someone already and I’m dying to find out who.” Nick implied.

“How will you do that?”

Nick seated on the sofa, sipped his whiskey, and said, “The time spell.”

“Well, if you plan to go back, you might need an object of her own.” Dimitri implied.

“That’s easy to get.”

“Nick, we did not come here for trouble.”

Dimitri stood before his brother, he tried to read his mind, but Nick had already erased his thoughts and blocked out the rest with the oblivion spell. He knew his brother was curious to find out what he was up to or what he knew.

“I believed you when you said the girls were here and now you expect me to think different.”

“Maybe yours were, not mines.” “Maybe the witch is wrong.”

“No Nick, your witch is never wrong.” Dimitri took a seat on the opposite side of his brother, “We will sort it.”

Nick got up and looked at his brother, he placed the drink down and went to the stairs. He immediately locked himself in the room, he began to think if things were going to work out now that he had come this far. He knew the witch was right because he could not deny the connection, he felt earlier this morning. He read my mind and found out something hidden inside of it.

“Dorian.” the name came out brutal from his mouth because he was familiar with it, “So Andrei sent his son to block my path.”

Nick: So, this was all Andrei’s doing, he wanted to prevent me from breaking the curse and conquering the throne. I shall see to it that he never succeeds so long as I am alive.

A luminous of burgundy flames sprung out from his fingertips and his pupils turned purple with silver around it. The curtains blew up and the flames from his hand released a tornado that kept swirling as it grows. The ceiling started to make a squeaking sound; he was releasing all his anger out. Suddenly the magical tornado went gushing out his balcony and into the air where it slowly died. Nick was ready to go full-on with his enemies, he was eager to give it all he got. He closed his eyes and began to go into deep meditation with his thoughts.
