Detective

Elias was always the type to lash out the moment things didn't go his way, which ridiculous for someone who worked as a detective but this time he was beyond pissed as his partner continued to justify her actions.

"Can you just shut up? There's no point in trying to justify your stupid mistake." He said crossing his arms, annoyed at the fact that his partner refused to finish the case.

"Listen detective, This is a high profile case, one wrong move and the entire city will be against. Don't bring your personal issues into this." His partner hissed back. This case was a pain for the entire department. Maria would have handled the situation better under any other circumstance if it weren't for her partner being so insistent on closing the case immediately without concrete evidence that would appease the public.

This annoyed Maria. She knew the detective had a rough past with the suspect but considering the fact that the suspect was popular among people from all walks of life, it would be difficult for them to accept the fact that they were responsible for gruesome murders that had been happening around town.

"It's annoying that you refuse to follow what I say but the sooner we get this done, the better. If this keeps going on people will start causing more trouble." Elias said sighing. It was difficult to agree with Maria but he had no choice.

"There seemed to be a third murder that happened yesterday. Following the same pattern; however this time it seemed a bit sloppy. The victim was already dead before the stage was set this time." He said placing the documents he collected earlier down for Maria to look at.

"How so? It seems to match all previous cases." She asked looking through the photos.

"All the victims seemed to be setting up a play. There's always a note with dialogue written near the body." Elias said, knowing the killer was taunting him. "This one however, seems to be telling a different tale; or rather no tale at all. There's no note, no signs of the body being moved." He took a deep breath, "However this one had a canvas beside the victim. I suppose it's connected to the others." He finished.

"Well, let's go have a look. Hopefully, we'll be able to find something that will help us." Maria said." Though I must say, this man looks real familiar." She said throwing a glance at Elias.

"Might be someone that funds the department, no doubt. It would explain why the boss was so pissed." Elias said walking away.

Silias switched of his phone, another day, another murder.

It seemed as thought each day had passed the police were more incompetent than before. Not like it mattered to him, it just made his job ten times easier.

Maria was used to what she saw on the daily, it was nothing new to a girl who grew up in violence. It was a life she was glad she left behind but occasionally it would aid her in her current job.

Her partner was the biggest mystery to her; She heard his conclusion and it was always the same person who he deemed responsible for the crimes. It seemed he once had a history with the person he deemed the perpetrator.

However, even so it would not mean that they could simply arrest them without concrete evidence. The criminal was smart, Maria would give him that. He left enough at the scene to taunt the police and Elias but never enough to get caught.

This one however, seemed to be half done, there was no note written, nor anything that suggested a continuation of the elaborate play the criminal set up. It was bland, compared to their other crimes.
