“Who’s to say he won’t ever come back, you know? All those other ghosts came back and I have to admit it chilled me a little to see them. But even so, I have to say that right now, I miss Harry MacGreggor most of all. He was my friend, and I looked up to him…”

Harry felt like he’d been struck by a train. He’d been hit hard before, many times in college as a linebacker, and he’d been tossed around by huge men as a wrestler, but that would be like comparing the sting of a bee to the blast of a shotgun.

With inhuman speed, the demon shot into him and slammed him through the doorway. Its blazing shoulder burned into his chest. For a moment the creature’s dark eyes bored into him and a feeling of pure despair swallowed him up, drowning him. In his ears, the faded screams of the spirits cried out.
