Lost Connections

Dietrich’ could feel a slight pang of disappointment as it dropped down into his stomach. He held onto Balin’ shoulder for a moment, unclear what to say that could convince the High Elf otherwise, partial truth wasn’t working, and the gravity of this mission felt too heavy.

Balin took a step back; his eyes dropped searching the ground, his eyebrows low and close, his jaw clenched and tight but his mouth let out a groan of pain, a neurotic expression that seemed impossible for Dietrich to read. Balin was experiencing a rush of emotions he couldn’t process Dietrich caught a sense that pushed him to ask more despite Balin willingness to talk.
