Rin's POV
"Mom, Gin, and I will go to school," I said and went to the kitchen to kiss her cheek.
"All right, did you bring your lunch?"
"Yes ma, we're not little children anymore." Gin replied with his polo open and his earring was flashing on his left ear, partially covered by his hair.
"Fix your polo shirt! Get a haircut too, your hair is quite long." mom said and scolded Gin.
"I look cool in this get-up though," he replied and made a face.
"Still, you need to wear your uniform properly."
"I gotta go now ma, bye, love you!" slung his guitar over his shoulder and ran out. He escaped mom's scolding.
"Take care! You too Rin." mom said and smiled gently.
"Bye ma, don't worry I'll take care of him," I told her, then followed Gin.
I ran towards him, and we walked together to our school.
Just a few minutes, we arrived here in Aoko High. It is a prestigious high school, and of course, most of the students here are from wealthy families. My family is not that well-off to afford the tuition here, but my brother and I got a scholarship from this school.
As we enter the school gate, the students looked at us, especially the girls. My brother is good-looking and a member of the music club. That's why he surely attracts attention.
"Sis, I'll see ya later!" he said with a smile and walked towards the freshmen building with some girls following him. All eyes are on me now that he left. Well, I can't deny that I'm known here for being the second-best student in this school, next to Aki, and I can't accept that.
I walked on my way to my classroom. It's crowded here by the bulletin board because today is the release of the scores in our first mock exam. I wonder how I did in this exam. How I wish I surpassed that Akio Tanaka!
While walking, my two friends greeted me with a smile on their faces. Why, what's happening? Is this a positive sign? Did I do better than Aki?
"Congrats Rin! You got second place again!" they said happily, and that was the cause of my frustration.
"Hey Rin, don't frown there," Mine whispered and patted my back.
"You did well." Chelsea, who is in the top 5 said and adjusted her glasses. Just like me, she is also a scholar.
Mine Claes and Chelsea Kaede are my friends in this school. They are from class b-1.
Mine has pearly-white skin and long, blonde wavy hair. She is a 'typical girl', the pretty and kind type. She's talkative, while on the contrary, Chelsea is quiet and cold. She is tanned, short-curly-haired, has thick glasses and freckles. They are the opposite of each other but still good friends.
"All right, let me see the results first," I said a little sluggishly. Hmm. Top ten scores in the first mock exam. I quickly scanned it from the end up.
Top 10, 9, 8, 7, 6...
Top 5, 90/100, Chelsea Kaede
Top 4, 91/100, Jean Silva
Top 3, 94/100, Yuno Minerva
Top 2, 97/100, ARGH IT'S ME AGAIN!
Top 1, 98/100, AKI THAT MORON!
It's just a single point difference. I sighed in frustration.
"Hey." said the voice behind me. I recognized it immediately, and it's the most annoying person in the world.
"What?" I raised my eyebrows as I faced him.
"What's up, Miss Number Two?" he said with a victorious grin on his face. It's Akio Tanaka, the only person I can't beat. Just seeing his face ruined my day.
"I will surpass you someday, I swear," I said with a determined face.
"Dream on," he said. I walked out without saying a word because I might punch his face again. He was about to follow me but, his so-called fangirls flocked around him and I saw the irritation all over his face.
Well, it's not a surprise for him to have admirers. Even though I hate him a lot, I am not blind to ignore his physical features. He is tall and handsome. His brown eyes are blending well with his raven hair. His nose is elegantly straight, and his lips are irresistible- WAIT, WHAT AM I THINKING?!
