Chapter Seventeen

I feel as though time stopped. It took a few seconds before what happened sank in. My face turned beet red, my heart thumping uncontrollably.

"CJ... What..."

"T-Thanks," she gasped, then she got up from the floor and left without looking back. I wasn't able to see what her face looked like. If we had the same reaction with what she did.

I placed a palm on the cheek where she kissed me. I could still feel the softness of her lips lingering.

She kissed me. CJ just kissed me. And yes, it is not the first time, but like what she said before, it is different now. It came from her, too. That we can't do that anymore.

So why?

A chuckle escaped my mouth.

I couldn't help but get my hopes high. Maybe we have a chance.

CJ'S POV:

I ran out of the kitchen, palms sweating. My feet took me to the living room where Sofia approached me, a frown on her face.

"Hey, you okay? Why are you so red?"

I shook my head. "N-No, it's just hot in here. Aren't you hot?"
